Went up to the woods yesterday for some relaxation and instead my boy decided to smear around on a patch of gasoline/diesel soaked ground. Thought it was just some opossum shit, realized too late. Just another reason why I like dogs more than people.

This is in a primitive campground too.

I know how you feel. I lost my Duke January 4, 2023. Fortunately it was to old age and not cancer.

in June I brought Simba home from the SPCA. He was 13 months old. He spent 4 months of his first year of life at the SPCA. His first family did no training or socialization with him. Simba gave me a weird look one night. I was talking to Duke while looking at his picture. I really miss Duke.

 

Came out the shower to see these two like this in the mornin.

The Brown-Nosed Bleppenfloofer (Canis Gianormous Schnozzus) is a fascinating and elusive creature that roams the hills and valleys near the town of Newberg, Oregon. Its nocturnal nature means that sightings are rare. Thought by scientists to be a black panther/domestic swine hybrid, the Bleppenfloofer’s primary method of obtaining sustenance is to camouflage itself in the darkness, lie in wait, and then scare the living $&@? out of unsuspecting delivery drivers from behind so that they drop all of their biscuits on the ground and run away in panic. The Bleppenfloofer can then root thru the dirt and debris with its powerful, penetrating, probing proboscis in order to pursue and pilfer its purloined offerings. But when food grows scarce, the gentle and gregarious Bleppenfloofer is also quite capable of foraging in daylight, which it does by the simple expedient of parking its ample posterior on the steps of the UPS truck, refusing to budge, and bombarding the hapless driver with kisses and slobber until the necessary biscuit tribute has been paid in full!

One of my friends drove for UPS. Long Haul in the winter, residential in the summer. He kept treats in the truck and often talked about all the dogs on his route. When I moved into my house and after Riley came home, I'd ordered something from a dog place, the UPS driver knocked to deliver, she brought Riley treats. When she honked, he knew and I'd just let him out. When our driver was assigned a new route, the two toot came, Riley was poised and ready...imagine the driver's shock when Riley jumped into the truck! No more cookies
