Anyone know a good electronics mechanic near ogden utah?

I’ve been trying to diagnose an issue with my transmission circuit for months and I’m hoping to find someone who can help. I’ve been to 3 shops and they all seem like they don’t want to get involved.

While I am normally reluctant to suggest this, you should try a Toyota Dealer. (Maybe it is already one of the 3 shops you have already tried?)
    Good Luck!

What's the problem? Maybe a bad ground? Check there first.

The reason I say that is, my son's car started having intermittent, odd problems last spring. I couldn't pinpoint the problem, nor could the local Ford dealer. They had it in a test loop for 4 hours and couldn't get a consistent error or pattern. After some research, I found one poster on a Ford forum, who was a Ford Master Tech, who said he'd seen several transmission issues go away by taking the ground cables off of the body ground point (which had been painted from the factory) and wire brush them clean, then covering in dielectric grease and re-connecting the grounds. My son's car didn't have one transmission issue after that until he sold the car.

Ya I’ve checked/cleaned all grounds. To be honest it’s a Jeep xj but that forum is weak sauce compared to TacomaWorld so I thought I’d check here as a last resort before throwing money at the local dealership.

If you’re savvy with electronics and willing to bear with me then I’m happy to go into details and post videos/pics. But long story short my TC is locking and unlocking while in 4th gear. Some basic trouble shooting has led me to some red flags with my TCM circuit but I’m in over my head when it comes to figuring out the root cause.

My experience with electronic transmissions is very limited. I made the suggestion because it surprises me how many issues with late model vehicles come back to sketchy grounds. Good grounds are especially important with the low voltages everything run on.

Ya I agree 100%. They’re easy to overlook and underestimate, especially the ones buried under the dash.

Either way I appreciate you taking the time to throw out ideas. I’ll take all the charitable advice I can get.
