Gasket For Sealing Under Tracks?

Could use a little help. I’m looking for some type of closed cell foam gasket, about 1/16 thick and 1” wide to use for mounting my L-Track to my camper.

I’ve used silicone in the past and it works great, but I wanted to give some sort of foam tape/rubber a shot. Butyl is another option but in the summer, it just starts to get closer to a liquid state lol.

If it doesn’t make sense, think about Yakima roof tracks for racks, and waterproofing the seal underneath that.

Maybe something like this? If it’s straight rubber it’ll become brittle and crack over time.

3M VHB would work. Super Pacific uses that on some of the seams of their campers.

Sika 221 is awesome too

 

FWIW I used butyl tape, 3/4” wide by 1/8” thick. Waterproof and came out perfect.

They use “putty tape” under the corner rails that they jam on
