Hi. New here. Searched for last 2 hours not finding what I need to hear. I just bought a 2007 access cab 4x4 4L. I ordered a 3” rough country lift. I bought 18”x9” wheels. 0 offset. I have a line on a 99% new set of 275/70r18 duratrac’s. Will they rub a little, or a lot? Thanks in advance

Welcome to Tacoma World. Lift does not equal clearance, you will rub, Biggest tire size you can fit without modification is 265/75/16 which is about a 32" tire, your 275/70/18 are a 33" tire. Prepare for doing a cab mount chop (typically shortened to CMC or also called body mount chop).

0 offset will very likely rub. More positive offset will reduce scrub radius and you MAY be able to get away without doing a CMC.

Then make sure to get a good high caster alignment to help push the wheels forward a bit.

Ah ok. Thanks for that! I read that one guy did it and it was fine. But most say issues. I have a 2001 Tacoma with 3” lift I’ve been driving for 9 years. 33”x12.5. Lots of rubbing. I’m done with that.

A skinnier tire will help you clear without as much fuss. I run a 10.5 wide tire and I still rub on 0 offset with high caster alignment.

Don't think they make a 33" skinny for an 18" wheel though, just 32"

The 275/70r18 is 10.8”. Not much more than that. But likely too wide I get the impression. I read one guy saying that 285/65r18 fit perfect with 0 offset. That’s about a 32.5x11

Well, both width and radius are factors here. The 0 offset helps clear the UCAs with the 285 width and then since it's only a 32"-ish tire you get more cab mount clearance simply due to tire radius.

I have 34x10.50” on a 17 rim with zero rubbing with a 2.5” lift. Stock offset wheels with 1.25” spacers up front. Like others have mentioned, will definitely need UCA’s up front to be able to move the tire forward in the wheel well. Or CMC might clear too. Wider tires make it more challenging, removing the front mud flaps will help also. I left mine on though

    That’s only a 2.5” lift? Nice clearance

thanks again for advice all. I think I’m gonna do the 285/65r18.

2.5” lift, 275-70-18. CMC and that was it.

I watched a video about doing the cmc. Looks easy enough but I’m gonna pass.
