Maybe be cause I have only been driving manuals for 3 million miles. Had a couple automatics along the way they didn't last long.

Familiarity, robustness, and at the time the auto wasn’t getting a lot of love.

I drive a regular cab 4x4 5 speed tacoma with mild suspension lift and bfg ko2 31's. This is my second Toyota pickup in manual transmission, it seems like these trucks were ment to be manual transmission it feels natural and very easy to service and extremely reliable.

I’ll bite and I’m sure it’s already been said. I enjoy driving and even though it’s not a sports car, I can do sports car things and it makes driving fun, not just a chore. Heal-toe is fun too. I added a tune and a, core short shifter, and weighted custom knob so it’s even better. It’s also, most likely, going to be my last manual as I’ll most likely go electric. As it stands now, I can beat pretty much any auto on the road right now,at least off the line. I cannot come even close to touching and EV though. So, I’ll enjoy this last hurrah as all I’ve ever driven were manuals. I hope to hand this 2017 TRD pro unicorn to my son in the next few years when he gets his license and then I’ll move on to an EV. I’ve had a 3spd on the column with egged out gates, I’ve had an assortment of clutch alignment tools and did more clutches than band adjustments. I’ve swapped junkyard ATs for less money than a clutch replacement. My last standard had an air bubble in the hydraulic system that caused the worst car accident I’ve ever experienced. But,
I buy ATs only because I fear the lack of demand will affect the return at trade in. If I’m wrong I d sure like to hear what your experience was like.
I miss driving stick for the reasons listed in previous posts….

Dealers can use the excuse that less people know how to drive manuals so it will be harder to sell but the flip side is, when someone wants manual, they will pay for it and they also know that.

Most dealers are pretty firm on their pricing when it comes to the manual tacomas these days. I think pre covid theyd probably fire sale that shit right out the door.

Demand is low for manuals, but so is supply. Price is dictated by both.

Right! So the dealer puts it on a truck and your MT FINDS demand. But that’s not what the dealer is gonna tell ya. It’s their angle and if you have to trade, you take it in the shorts No? Anybody actually trade one? taco for taco ? I’ve traded 3 and did well. All autos.

Too funny, every car I've sold with a manual garnered a higher price versus an otherwise identical automatic. That and when I bought my previous car, a 2006 Acura TL, I had to shop for five months to find a clean/unmolested car and I happily paid $3,000 more for it compared to an automatic unit.

You seem very passionate about a subject that doesn’t concern me much. I was just giving my 2 cents. If you hate dealers, you are free to sell your truck on the open market.

Exactly, when I bought the 2006 TL I was looking nation wide; I tried to buy one in Sacramento, CA but got out bid, the car I ended up buying was in Hartford, CT, only 200 miles from where I lived at the time in New Hampshire.
