I seem to be prone to try to save time when doing a repair by starting directly with the focused item, despite the voice in my head that tells me that I have to get other stuff out of the way first.

So today I decided that I would replace the tensioner pulley for the PS belt (2.7 motor). With a lot of effort, I was able to squeeze it out with the fan shroud in place. Re-installation was a nightmare despite all my contortions to get it in place for fastening in that tight spot. After an hour, I decided to remove the fan shroud as I should have done in the first place.

20 minutes later the pulley was reinstalled, belt tensioned, and fan shroud back in place

Have I learned a lesson here? Yep, definitely, but the real challenge is remembering it next year when I have the urge to do something else.
