2010 Tacoma serpentine belt

    Hey, just changed my serpentine belt on my 2010 Tacoma. It almost seems like the belt is to thick. The belt it touching it self under the water pump. Help!

    It is routed correctly. The water pump and crankshaft are closer than they are on the diagram. It almost seems like the belt it too thick. Has anyone else experienced this?

    I cant undertsand how his waterpump and crank pulley are THAT close that a belt would rub???? Have to be one thick belt!

    minor tweaks
    Sounds like you've verified everything except possibly the belt. Have you compared it to the original and verified it's the correct replacement part number? If all that's correct then you missed something during the install.

    Are you using a Toyota OEM belt ?

    I can send picture of the belt when I get home. It is the correct belt. The water pump and crankshaft are very close and I triple checked everything.

    Include the idler and tensioner pulley in the picture when you do.

    The grenade pin or allen key has been pulled from the tensioner?

    Tell Dayco to stop touching itself or it may go blind.

    Jokes aside, get a Bando belt or OEM Toyota belt if no other discrepancies are found. Bando is the OEM supplier.

    I’ve used Dayco before. It should do the job. Once the belt sits in the grooves correctly, it should barely sit above the edge of the pulley, as I recall.

    I was a Dayco fan until recently. The last one I used, China made, was on an Outback and it cracked all to shit in 2-3 years. The OE belt I replaced with 5X the miles looked like new in comparison. I rarely use aftermarket parts anymore, because they're almost all shit, but this was a friend's car and she needed it "now", and that's what Advance Auto had.
