I had 21 memorable years with my 99 SR5 Xtracab 4WD 3.4L V6 MT. It was my pride and joy. I was known locally as ‘The guy with the shiny old truck’ It had 374,561 miles on it and there wasn’t a thing it needed. I’m going to post all the ‘before’ pics highlighting subtle modifications and then I’ll post the dreaded ‘after’ pics which are pretty much self-explanatory. It was a great run; I’ll be missing it for some time I’m sure.

I bought this 2006 Tundra Limited Crew Cab from my mechanic which saved me time and haggling headaches. The estimate with just the frame replacement and body work alone was $16,741.00 and would have likely skyrocketed to well over $25k when it was all said and done. It simply didn’t make sense to me to pour that amount of money into a depreciating asset, despite its condition. Take care and be well folks. I will (not) be installing a bull bar on the Tundra.

Actually I was the 2nd. I found it online thru Auto-Trader. Purchased it from a Lt. Commander stationed in SC. He had three vehicles and none of them could comfortably fit 3 kids and his wife. It only had 97,000 miles on it back in 2004.

What did your truck make contact with? I'm not seeing any paint or hair.

A sad end to a fine vehicle. I owned a 1994 SR5 V6 Extra Cab that I traded with +/- 411,000 miles on it. Northeast road salt was its demise.

Mostly stock, just getting it to my liking, just happy to have had the taco and now my 4Runner.
You don’t need to leave, we have sections here for tundras as well. I traded my Tacoma for a 4Runner and still stay for all I a can learn and share.
Either way glad you ended up okay but sad to lose another good truck, but at least you stayed in the Toyota family.

    What a clean lil truck!

I know heartache from losing a vehicle to an accident.

It took me a month or so to get over it...even after I bought replacement/used vehicle.

Happier days came along when I bought my first Tacoma.

All the best to you and like has been said, you don't have to leave.

Good god, hope you were OK after that accident! Beautiful truck. I'd miss it too.

It did not which also weighed heavily in my decision to cut my losses and move in a different direction.

I rear-ended the other driver's car which was stopped at a pedestrian cross walk on a 4 lane street. It could have been so much worse had people attempted to cross before the solid red lights illuminated. I'm grateful beyond words there was no loss of life or harm done to anyone involved. His car blended into the landscape of the road, it was cloudy and overcast that day and he was in 'Park' which is why I didn't see the car until it was too late. Despite not speeding or driving distracted, the citation was for not driving at a safe enough speed to slow down to prevent colliding with another vehicle. Any rear-end collision is always going to be the fault of the driver who hit the other.

Some vehicles are simply a special one. This by about anyones standard seems to fit that spot. Did that tu tone interior come as an option or custom?

I had a unique Isuzu Space Cab I had to sell in 2003. Kept a search in ebay and C.L. found out its final resting place was in a Sierra foothill wrecking yard. It had that special "Pixie dust"Resized_20240828_115235001.jpg
