My Dad had a really nice Winchester semi auto .22 when we lived in West Texas and then Mississippi. Now back then .22 ammo was less than .50 cents a box. But he thought 3 boys were burning through a box just too fast. So his remedy was to sell the Winchester and he bought us a H&R bolt action with a 5 shot clip. He figured this would slow us down. When I go old enough I bitched him out for getting rid of the Winchester.

My Oldest Brother still has the H&R purchased somewhere around 1968-69.

They don’t have serial numbers or date codes on them, but from the details, I think it’s from 1954-57 based on changes they made over the production run. It really is the sort of rifle that isn’t made anymore. I love my modern .22s, but most of my rimfire collection is unserialized.

That’s the Remington 511 “Scoremaster.” I have managed to find pretty decent examples of the whole 500 series. Great little rifles. You can still get really nice ones for $300 at shows.

I love my 457 American. Incredible rifle for the money. I’m debating refinishing that stock too. I can see a beautiful piece of wood underneath the factory finish.

Wow! It’s hard to find one that hasn’t been used to death. That’s really nice. I have a Savage 72, which is roughly the same in principle, but not nearly as historical and cool.

It didn't get much use other than target practice. By the time he was 9 or 10 he got a Winchester 1890 in WRF that I also have. It shows a lot more wear.

I have a couple of old timers age wish buddies who are both looking at the CZ 457 .22 bolt action. Originally they both wanted the 28.4" barrel version, now they are settled on the 24"+ option.

New Plinker! Rossi Rio Bravo 22lr with some goodies. Can't wait to run some 40g 710fps stuff through it.

I'm definitely loving the feel of this thing. Scratches that vibe itch pretty good too. This JK can isn't the quietest.. but the 710fps' should make up for it a bit.

Took the old "museum piece" to the range today. Forgot how much I loved shooting an old bolt action so I ordered 3 "new" mags for it. Sounds like they are 1940s surplus mags so hopefully after 80+ years they are still good :goingcrazy:

This thing is a blast! First time I shot it yesterday I thought it had a light strike it was so quiet. Then heard it hit steel a second later. Started giggling like a little kid. Lol

Probably my new favorite plinker and 22 can host.

No, it's ready to roll. I just added the attachments. For only $316 it's a great cheap plinker.

Been looking real hard at these for a little while now. Just have zero room in my safe right now. keep us updated if you have come across any issues or little quirks you don't agree with.
