2012 Tacoma trd off road 82000. 3 accidents reported. No signs of any damage. Wind shield wiper pumps not attached. No windshield wipers (just need to be attached). No volume coming from radio. Cig burns in driver and passenger. Thermostat gauge not center only at a quarter of the way( dealer says they will replace) oil is dark but not black. No spare. Dealer price is 23k plus 750 admin fee. I offered 20580 with because CARFAX stated that value. They said if they might considerate it with no warranty and I have to take care of everything but the thermostat and oil change. What’s your opinion?

I'd walk away just because of the cig burns. That stench will never come out of the interior.

The fact that they want to play a game with the warranty and price, screw them. Let it rot on their lot.

How about some pics of the rest of the truck? Like exterior and interior?
But…. If that’s the listing of stuff you CAN see wrong with it, who knows what you haven’t found yet. 3 Carfax accidents on it record?

That underside is mint to this Pennsylvania resident.

As far as being a smokers vehicle, you will never truly get that smell out. Had a '14 Tacoma that I found out when it got warm out that was a former smoked in vehicle. Got it a lot better, but never all the way out. Currently have a '23 Camry that was an ex Avis rental so even though you're not supposed to, was obviously smoked in. Still smell it on hot days.

All the other stuff you mentioned tells me that was not a well cared for vehicle. Would be a no buy to me.

More negotiating! Carfax reports don't really have all the history of any vehicle . Ask the dealer to pull all maintenance records from their data base . How was the test drive ? Can you take it to garage for an independent honest evaluation of vehicle? . I'd say walk.

Looks unexceptional. I’d probably pass on it and find one in better condition — especially the smoking and upholstery burns.

Maybe make a crazy low offer and happily take your chances? (Offer whatever the H you feel like — they’re used car dealers, so immune to insult!)

For $20K+ it had better be in exceptional condition. This doesn't work, that doesn't work, can't tell if the wipers work, seat burns, is today Friday ?

You need to walk away quickly...

$23k for a 13 year-old truck with 3 accidents on record? What's your plan for the vehicle? Daily beater? Trail beater? If so, wait a month. If the truck is still on the dealer's lot then, offer $13k.

What years did the 3 accidents occur? I see the truck has had a frame replacement. The LCA and cam bolts (come with the frame) look new, while the brackets attached to the cab floor are rusty. I see a bent skid plate, missing engine skid, incorrect recovery hook for Off Road package, bent crossmember extension on the driver's side, and possibly bent trailer plug connector. Washer pump not attached suggest the accident crushed the fender and radiator support up to that point. Do you mean wipers are inoperative or mechanically not attached? The latter suggests a cracked windshield replacement.

Thermostat is easy to DIY. Given the truck's age you'll want to replace the coolant, radiator hoses, fan belt, idler pulleys... anyway. 13 year-old factory spare would be junk, probably why it wasn't reattached when the frame was replaced.

The condition of the interior on a used vehicle is 99.9% reflective of how the vehicle was taken care of overall. $23k for a 13 year old truck that's been wrecked 3 times and has burns on the seats? Hard pass.

This. Way too much history (neglect, abuse) and way too much asking price.

    Frame looks fine.
Price is absurd for what it is. I wouldn't pay over 18k and if you're not in a rush, just wait for something better. It will come and you'll be happy you did.

^^^ This. Run, don't walk. You probably only know 10% of all that is wrong with the truck. Way overpriced for what you're getting.

I doubt they will drop below 22K but it also sounds like the last T/A was half ass repaired as cheaply as possible which should make one leery about what you can't see.
