Last night I assembled and installed my 6112s. When it was all said in done it was very early in the morning and the rod was going suspiciously far through the top hat to the point that I ran out of threads trying to tighten it down. I look into it online and discovered I am missing the “Bilstein Rod Adapter”. This truck is my daily driver and so I quickly want to get this fixed. I am looking for either the part that I can order from somewhere or the specifications of the part so I can get something similar enough from the hardware store. I am trying to fix this asap so any information at all is greatly appreciated. Other than that the truck looks smooth for 1.8 inches of lift.IMG_5855.jpg The rod going through the top too far.IMG_5856.jpgleveled :annoyed:

Forgot to include the diagram with my part I’m missing. 833559CC-2F89-4981-AE57-49550457F5DA.jpgI don’t have the bilstein rod adapter from this diagram.

Improper installation of the top hat or you have wrong parts somewhere. That center "bolt" is the "Bilstein Rod Adapter" in your picture. It should not run out of threads, and it should compress the rubber bushing.

Did you compress the spring and install the top hat yourself? If so, take it apart and do it again but this time do it the right way. If someone else did it, take it to a reputable shop and have them fix it.

If you don't understand how this assembly works, go to YouTube and search something like "bilstein 6112 assembly" to get an idea, lots of videos out there showing what's done.

I’m curious to see the bottom half of the spring assembly.
The spring would have to be too short, or the low seat too low to allow that much rod to stick out the top.

It is on the correct spring.
My truck is on stands at the moment til I fix the assembly that’s why the uca is so tilted.

If you are missing a piece (which we would have no chance to see from the original photos) and you still assembled it anyways then yeah you assembled it incorrectly. It will not work without that piece. Those parts aren't there just to look pretty. Source the parts from whomever you bought the shocks from or give Bilstein a call, then assemble them all over again and do it right this time.

I have no response yet but I did get ahold of a local shop and they are helping me get the part.

IMG_5911.jpg I got em in, thanks so much for you guys responses, my local shop couldn’t get the part for a good price so I went straight to Bilstein. They took forever to respond and only emailed me back once a day but I got them to sell it to me even with my buying the shocks aftermarket. Looks good and glides over speed bumps and curbs. I am curious as to how others torque the top mount screw down to 20ft/lb, there is no room for a torque wrench so I just tightened it based off of feel and a photo.IMG_5910.jpg IMG_5907.jpg IMG_5909.jpg
