I found a great deal on a trailer dual axle, 8.5x20. 99% of it's life will be taking karts to the race track.

2018 tacoma with a 3.5L. trailer has a 7000lb gvwr, 3300lb empty. With a couple karts, tools, etc, I doubt I'll be above 4000lbs total. There will be some occasional freeway use if I take it to a different track.

I'm on the fence because the trailer is 8.5 feet wide. It's a little more than I need but it's a fantastic deal.

Is that the outside wheel / fender width, or the deck?

Either way, that's a massive trailer for a Tacoma. And it sounds like way overkill for the ~700 lbs of payload you're expecting. I'd look for something smaller.

That is way to heavy a empty trailer for the tacoma, I have towed 4000 pounds three times with my 07 and 08 V6 tacomas, the gas mileage was horrid and it did not handle well, that was just going on flat interstate. Driving a 7.5 foot wide trailer can get close especially in interstate construction area, cant imagine a 8.5 foot wide trailer.
Yes technically with the tow package its rated for above 3 tons but I sure would not want to drive a tacoma with that much weight, hell a trailer like that I might even want a F250 to be on the safe side.
Out of curiosity how many go carts do you have? Whats the footprint, 2.5' x 5' or so? What do they weight?

Holy crow, that thing is a large shed on wheels. I, personally, would look at no wider than a 7’ wide trailer (7x14 or 7x16) and consider a 6’. One thing you didn’t mention, are those go carts dragsters?

This is one of them. I usually take 2 karts. Fuel, kart stands, tools, an extra set of rims and tires. Occasionally, I'll take 5 karts.

That trailer is way more than you need or want to tow. Forget that monstrosity and start looking for a different trailer

Way too big. And good luck if you’re going at speed with any crosswind. Just not enough truck for that much trailer

If it's a fantastic deal buy it and resell it. Don't try to pull it with a Tacoma though.
