Anyone else with input here? I’ve been running 35/32 f/r and am going to try 40 all around to see the difference. Will report back

this thread is as messy as it is old.

first, identify your load range. C or E range. that will give you a ballpark.

if you want to dial it in for your reality, then do the chalk test. it will take about 10 minutes.

    Workin' on it....
If I'm on-road predominantly, I get the best mileage at about 37-38 PSI (Duractracs in C-load range, 265-75r16). Drop them down to mid twenties for most general purpose offroading.

Indeed, my bad. 265/75/16 in Load C. Need to get the chalk test going...

Hi All, I currently have my duratracs at about 37. I used to run 32 and 30. I’m having a problem right now which is why I’m posting. When it is really cold, 30 degrees or less, I get the low tire pressure warning. I tried resetting it a bunch of times with my pressure at 37 and it doesn’t go away unless it is warm out or if my trip starts from my garage. Should I go up in PSI or could this be related to low TPS battery? I have one of the first 3rd gen’s, 9 years old. I am going to be trading her in for the new 4Runner most likely and would like to avoid any last min repairs. In case your wandering why I am not going with another Tacoma, it’s a combination of things, 1: they got rid of some of much needed storage (behind the seats) and in order to get a comparable model, it’s 54k, which seems crazy. I’m also considering a 2025 Pilot. I love hidden storage and they have a lot under the cargo lid. Would consider the land cruiser but 58k for cloth seats, a small radio, and crappy speakers is irritating. Sorry for the tangents!!! And what it is with, even though my sunroof has been whistling since the day I got my truck and the belt has been squeaking for 2 years (Toyota said it was normal), 91k miles and I haven’t had any issues and Carmax is offering me 20k, which I think is amazing for a 9 year old truck. If the 3rd gen Tacoma had an in bed compartment, I’d be all over it!!!!

Can't help with the tire TPS but are you sure the carmax offer is a good price ? Around here (Pacific Northwest) the '16 TRD sports are going for a lot more than that with fairly low mileage. I would say 25k at least.

I think carvana was around 21k. I figure Carmax gives 1-1.5k less than a dealer and maybe you pay a little more but you can avoid having to haggle. I’m not sure what I’m going to do, money is getting a little tighter, so I could hold onto it for another years it’s treated me well. Ps. The pressure light has not been back on after increasing from 37 psi to 40
