walked through an Amazon returns store this past weekend--they buy bulk returns and then sell everything off at a flat rate. they tend to lump smaller items onto tables to everyone to sort through, every day the pricing changes. friday is $10/item, with wednesday being cheapest at $1/item. most of the good stuff's been picked through by saturday though. but this one had bike returns as well.
ended up walking out with this $400 premium-spec mountain bike. for $100.

someone busted the derailleur off, so it needs about $50 in parts, but i'm still very much money ahead. i've been eyeballing that bike for the last few years every time i'm at walmart. i'm still stuck on 26" wheeled stuff, so it's nice to at least have one bike now that's slightly modern, without paying the thousands that any 'real' bike brand wants for the same thing. and it's functional enough until i get to upgrade the rest of it!

    Nice score, @soundman98!

Make sure you pick up a presta adapter if you don't already have one.

lol, i've got so many, i've lost most of them! the prevailing theory is they made a run for mexico with the missing dryer sock, and possibly the 10mm sockets.

i'm not angry, i'm a little jealous, especially this week with the cold!

oh, and in other mexico-related news, my parents were down in mexico last week for an all-inclusive resort trip. they came back today. just in time for the temp to plummet!

There's some underpants gnomes that are going to make a killing on all of that if they can figure out phase 2.
Except for the location, that sounds annoyingly familiar. :(

When Celsius and Fahrenheit both agree on the temperature, it's too stinking cold.

Good morning guys. I hope it was a good weekend for you, time to get the week started.

Hey, look! I have one of those extreme cold weather watches too, that’s neat :annoyed:

No need to be hasty starting the week!

    I have the day off.

Which naturally means I was still up at my usual time to drive my wife to work this morning.

    Because she's cold.

Last week was my wife and little boys first day back to work and daycare, wife is the school nurse at a Christian school around the corner. Naturally everybody in my house was sick all weekend long. Give and take. Back to two incomes. Everybody sick.

My big big boss posted a thing on LinkedIn about how our support has increased from 16 launches beginning of contract to over 140 this year. I wanted to comment and say with a 25% reduction in work force and zero internal overtime, that's incredible!!11
I think my direct boss is about to exit stage left, he's told me as much. He's also asked if I would sit in his seat. Meaning leaving the union protection and being a "company" man. It's a no for now but I'm listening... ;)

Saturday evening my wife and I took the kids to a dance, we dropped them off and we went 10 minutes away for supper.

Nice restaurant in the middle of nowhere, they were slammed. 45 minute wait. No problem, we had 3 hours.

We were standing beside the door and I see a woman walking up with balloons and a gift. Her husband is behind her with 2 containers of cupcakes.

I opened and held the door for them, they both said thanks. I said I'm holding it for a cupcake cause I like to joke around, I wasn't being serious at all. He laughed and ask is this your lady? I said yes sir. He said hey and walked off.

2 minutes later he walks up with 2 cupcakes and gives my wife and I both one, I ate them both :anonymous:

The restaurant is amazing if you're ever in the area.
