I need new lower control arms for the front end of my 2014 Tacoma off-road. And any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don’t want to spend $2000 lol. thank you

I’d go with the Mevotech over the Moog.
I’ve used them on other vehicles, no problems yet.

OEM replacements are anywhere from $550-600 for the set. There are cheaper options on Amazon for around $200 a set. Dirt king sells some for around $1700 a set.

I need new lowers too. I hate the stock ones as I know they can be a weak point for severe abuse(I broke my OEM LCA years ago), beefy stock length is like $1600 and up. I wish someone made beefy stock ones that you can grease for like $750. When the time comes in the summer I’ll be pulling the trigger on OEM replacements. I can’t justify spending $2000 on stock length and not spending a bit more and just going full LT.

LT is not "a bit more". It's about $5,000 more.

I have had TRQ brand LCAs installed for about 2000 miles. Still to early to tell reliability, but they mounted up just fine, ride smooth and alignment was no issue. And they were cheap, like really cheap under $200 for the pair. Figure if they don’t last I can replace them 2-3 more times for less than one pair of OEM. Depends on your needs, though.

Just make a Toyota acct and buy online. You can get OE lcas for about 230-260 ea. and usually anything over $75 is free shipping.

The weak point on the cheaper LCAs are the ball joints. I got me some Dormans and the BJ’s were shot by 5K.

A little sideline story on that - I replaced the Dorman BJ’s with Premium XL’s. They were about $15 each on rockauto. Five years later those BJ’s were holding up well. I come to find out Dorman’s ‘high’ end BJ’s are now those Premium XL’s, but I bet their LCA’s still come with no-name Chinese parts.

Edit - the brand name is MAS, and now part of Dorman. Not too bad of a BJ. They gave me five years of service and I liked that they were sealed,

This! Don’t ever call the dealer and ask them the price…they like to accidentally jack up the prices. Shop around online!

If I were to buy them online with no shipping cost to pick up at my local dealer, they’d be roughly $700 out the door. Larger online dealers will cost a little less but shipping will usually cancel out a significant amount of that.

What did the worn out ball joints show as signs of wear? Busted boots and lost grease / corrosion or bad sounds / play etc?

You don't really need an account, price compare the part numbers online:

    48069-04040 Left
    48068-04040 Right

Not all online dealers are the same - I only usually buy online and pick up from my local dealer so you could check around on here, but McGeorge Toyota had a good reputation when I was on here more often 4-5 years ago.

    https://toyotaparts.ourismantoyotao...lower-control-arm-left-front-lower-4806904040

    https://toyotaparts.ourismantoyotao...ower-control-arm-right-front-lower-4806804040

Depending on what shipping and tax look like it could come out around $600-$660 or so.

Larry H Miller Toyota in Lemon Grove, CA or Norm Reeves Toyota in San Diego usually have the best prices. If you can wait for a major sale you'll save 15% or more. Otherwise, Dirt King lca's are a solid upgrade choice.

I'm planning on getting those for my turd gen soon.

That's about right, but I got mine for less. I paid $289.76ea + tax from one of our local dealers (West Coast Toyota) sometime last year. Bought online and then picked up in store.

But dealers seem to increase prices annually. Same dealer is now selling them for $305.22 each. I still wouldn't do anything but OEM unless I only planned on owning the truck for a couple more years.
