has anyone installed a fuel cell into their 3rd gen with the stock 2gr fks motor? Im looking to add a 40g fuel cell to my bed cage so I can finally 4 link my 3 link. If anyone knows what fuel cell would work best for race applications, and what fittings and parts are needed.

I would assume the guys with aftermarket hangers are drilling and tapping a hole for the parking brake cable bracket?

funny, i was about to make a comment on the topic. obviously not quite as cold as the frozen hell you live in. I got the truck mostly built over the summer time. 90 degrees most days, including the first test drives where i made some adjustments. it is uncharacteristically cold for coastal South Carolina right now. actually expecting once in a decade snow tonight. it was in the high 20s this morning, and i was shocked at how stiff the ride out of my neighborhood was. took about 10 minutes of overexaggerating turns and stops to move the shocks and try to warm them up to a mildly comfortable point. my 2.5x18s have about 20% less volume than a 3.0x16. not sure if that's what you're running, but regardless, it must take you 45 minutes to warm them up street driving, if they even do warm up.

On days like today, they won’t warm up. Instead of shock absorbers they are shock enhancers. Absolutely aweful ride. It starts becoming noticeable at anything under 30* but starts getting really bad around 0-10. Anything under, hope you don’t have to piss because it will rattle it out of you.

Does this increase the risk of permanently fatiguing a shim or stack of shims? Always wondered if super cold operation (which they were really never designed to see) would harm them. Factory car shocks aren't as exacting and seem to weather the changes better from a ride perspective.

Honestly can’t answer that. I’ve never had an issue. But I’ve also never run the trucks hard in this weather anyways. Usually because all of our trails are under 5’ of snow.

So this is fucked, the core is completely separated from the cab. I’m planning on cutting all the cracked shit off and adding a bushing between the firewall and core to allow some flex between the two. Body and core are all on poly bushings as well.

Anyone see any issues with this approach?

A cage? I know that is the best way to fix it, but not happening right now.

    My koi survived!

Koi are very hearty, mine handle their pond freezing over every year no problem.

was worried my koi had gotten used to that sub-tropical life. ive seen them under frozen ponds before, but wasn't sure how they'd handle a nearly 60 degree temperature swing in a 24 hour period.

I'm always amazed at what they can put up with, last year we had a huge cold snap to -13 from 35 and the Koi didn't care, although it did take me busting through the ice a couple times to make sure their air bubbler was good still. I put a little 250w water trough deicer in this year though and so far that has kept my 450gallon pond from even getting a skin layer of ice.

Been there and still there. My old truck (90 4Runner) I called Humpty Dumpty because I kept putting it back together again. I think my Tacoma is HD2.

What do you think about my bushing idea? It will at least allow a little flex. I will be pulling back the curtains this weekend to see what I am working with on the firewall.
