My brakes are due soon and I plan on doing them myself. Came across two different part numbers. Does anyone know the difference? Toyota isnt too descriptive on what hardware comes with it or I just cant find it :notsure: What's the OEM part number for true OEM brake pads?

    Thank you in advance!

AZ200 is the cheaper "value" line pads and the 04090 are the "premium" pads. Everyone wants the 04090 pads.

    Go for NAPA. They’re great!

How do you compare them to the stock pads? Longevity and performance?

I had a vibration on my OEM brakes so I went with PowerStop. Normally, I stick with OEM. Very happy with PowerStop.

I’ve only had them on for six months, NAPA, Adaptive One pads. They seem to stop really well and good on hills. Not sure about longevity. My neighbor has had these on his Chevy for several years and he told me they were good so I got them. They do come with a limited lifetime warranty.

Looking into these. Doing my fair share of research before pulling the trigger.

How are they for brake dust? I swore off aftermarket pads because they always have loads more dust than OEM.

I used nothing but OEM or Akebono pads for the last 20 years. Akebono is the OEM mfg for Toyota.

Don't forget to get a pad spreader tool to push back the pistons.

Brake dust is natural to brake systems. Keep in mind the weaker material will wear down. If you use organic pads, they will wear down fast and produce a lot of dust but the rotor will live forever. If you use carbon or ceramic pads, they will produce less dust than organic in the same mileage but eat rotors more. I’ve got over 500,000 miles on rotors using organic pads but gotta clean up wheels more often.

That's the thing. Even the best auto parts store ceramic pads produce a ton of dust and seem to offer no demonstrable advantage over OEM.

My point is, I have yet to find a parts store pad that matches OEM in quality. The OEM isn't much more in price, so I don't see the value in not getting OEM.

The major advantage is the lifetime replacement offered by the box stores. If you wear out a set of pads, they will replaced them free of charge. So spending $60 on pads...albeit they produce more dust than OEM...will last the entire time you own the truck minus your labor replacing them which Toyota made extremely easy on their trucks. You can replace the pads when rotating tires in less than 5 minutes.

To each their own, but I would rather have good than have to keep replacing an inferior product even if that product is cheaper with free replacement. I don't like spending my time scrubbing rims, dealing with squeezing brakes, or constantly replacing pads. OEM is a known quantity that has none of those issues.

I’m in a completely different realm anyway. Slotted and drilled rotors and almost always off-roading in deep water and mud. I’m washing rims weekly. But the rotors chew through a set of pads in 10k. So cheap and free replacements is my jam. But if you want good and less dust, E36 powerstop is amazing.

Have not noticed this to be a problem as compared to Toyota branded. I keep truck clean and wiped down and use car wash often.
