IDK? an election that had a lot of doom and gloom content inlvolving the economy.

What you describe sounds like limited slip, not a locker. Our trucks have limited slip in 2 WD and 4WD Hi, but not in 4L. If you have a Taco Off Road then you have an E locker. For the Sports and others there is a mod you can do to have limited slip in 4L.
Or maybe I’m not understanding what you are saying and you can just ignore this.

Owners of previous gens will know all this but I'll put it here for the people that dont

In my 2nd gen I had open diffs, and there was the "yellow wire mod" where you cut a yellow wire behind the glove box and it fooled the computer into thinking it was still in 4HI and let the traction control or auto LSD stay on in 4 low. Some people called it Atrac Lite.

It worked really well though, all you had to do was break traction and you could feel the power shift back and forth from left to right.

The 4G has the same transfer case as a 2nd gen so im pretty sure it can be yellow wire modded to keep a trac on in 4lo. Someone will figure out which wire this is and everyone will be cutting it. I wonder which color itll be?

Then there was the 2LO mod. This was a little box you had to plug into your TCM harness and you would stop the 4x4 switch in between 2hi and 4 hi and it would engage 2 low. You had to buy this mod from a member on here and he would do a run every so often.

This came in handy when on boat ramps, or backing a trailer up a hill or any situation where you needed the low gear but also need to turn sharply.

I've read about other gens having a locker anytime mod too, but since my 2nd gen didnt have a elocker, I cant comment on that.

But I bet theres a way to do it safely and not damage anything. Someone was saying that the new Prerunner Offroads had a locker and they are 2wd hi only so it might even be an OEM part you need to get.

There is no 2wd Offroad anymore for 2024. Was having a chat about this in another thread recently and checked out the Toyota Build site to confirm. Prerunner does not have locker option, and Offroads are all 4WD.

    I stand corrected then

I'm still sure there is some way to fool the computer to think it is in 4 lo to give you the locker anytime.

No, the GMC G80 is a locker made by Eaton also known as Mlocker. Check the video that was posted in #15.

Working on a lien delete for my title…..
I use my 3rd Gen “LSD” more than any other feature. Winter and mud season its activated daily, two 90 degree turns coming off ice or mud….and one self recovery in which only one tire had traction. Great feature!
