    Good evening,

New to the Tacoma lifestyle. I recently bought a 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport with 57k miles on it. Changed some headlight bulbs today and noticed a sticker saying it is equipped with a remote start (see below). I have tried locking it and pushing the lock button a few times and then holding the lock button but nothing happens. Did they install remote starts for these models? Is the sticker just placed on all tacomas? Or is it something with key programming? Welcome to any suggestions. Thanks

Aftermarket. Typically started by pushing the lock button 2x then holding on the third press.

Definitely an aftermarket warning sticker, whether the device is still installed or not.

Most likely aftermarket starter. It may have been removed and taken away with it's fob. Maybe download pics of what fobs you have.

Anyway to confirm if the aftermarket starter is still installed other than trying the key? Truck only came with one key and it appears to be the factory Toyota key. Don’t have it on me right now so I can’t take a picture.

I have installed a starter on a previous car and it was as simple as plugging into a wire harness behind the dash. Do they make similar kits for trucks of this year?

I just looked online and it seems a starter kit would be installed into the wire harnesses below the steering wheel. Perhaps I’ll take the covers off and just take a look.

The remote start could have came with a remote that you didn't get.

Stock, but not stock (but stock)
Since you're removing panels, you can also check for the remote start "brain", which would normally be tucked into an open space behind the lower drivers side cubby.
