Hey guys not sure why my truck is drifting when I drive. It drifts right and left on interstate speeds and some city roads.just had new lower control arms and bushing replaced with an alignment and it’s still doing it any ideas to fix?

Steering racks tend to cause this on 1st gens, but ball joints could as well.

Check the steering rack for movement, you have someone rock the wheel while watching it underneath.

Check for slop in the steering shaft. Reach down by pedals to where shaft goes into firewall. Grab steering shaft, and move steering wheel back and forth. IF there is slop that could be the problem. Easy fix.

That reminds me... The previous tires 215/70R15 on my 2wd single cab '04 Tacoma. I was leaving work one day and hitting the sweeping right hand turn of the freeway on ramp. It was a short ramp so you had to get over a lane quickly, or end up on the next off ramp. It was a rainy day and traffic was heavy. I spotted a dark blue VW GTI moving along at speed and a little bit of a gap behind him for me to get over. Heading on the ramp I laid into the throttle as hard as I could in 3rd gear, making the turn while getting the steering a little crossed up. I had it nicely balanced with the back end hanging out a little, gaining speed to merge. As I straiten out at the end of the ramp I look to my left, expecting to see the GTI just about outside the door glass and going about 10 mph faster than me. NOTHING! I glance around and he's not there. I look into the left rear view mirror and that GTI is WAY back -- I must have scared the shit out of him, seeing the ass end of a stock old Tacoma hanging out. That merge turned out easy!

My guess goes on rack bushings or steering rack.

Don't ignore the rear end - it's worth a look to see if there are any issues
