    Greetings!

I found this poking out of my side mirror, dangling between the mirror and the housing. Looks like some sort of electrical connector. I have a less common configuration, an SR5 with the 2.7L engine, so I'm pretty certain I don't have heated side mirrors. I don't see this part on any of the schematics I can find, and don't see it on the instructional YouTube videos for replacing the mirror glass.

I'm stumped. The mirror functions fine. Any idea?

Well, mystery solved. I happened across a picture of the backside of the assembly, and it's one of the lugs on the circuit board that powers the heated mirrors. I assume it's a warranty item, but damn, I hate to have the door panel removed. I don't think I've ever done a panel removal/replacement without a rattle rearing its ugly head.

I must be missing something? I don’t see your part in the picture you shared in your second comment.
It’s not an electrical connection, it has paint on it. The connections pictured would be soldered to the board not press fit.
I don’t actually know what the part is, but someone who has changed their mirror glass probably will. I assume it’s a clip to tension the mirror itself.
Also to access the mirror you don’t need to remove the door panel. The mirror cap will pop off with the door closed

HA! I had one that I saw hanging out of my drivers rear view mirror on an off roading trip. Had it in the cup holder for a few weeks and meant to post up. It got lost. Thank you for solving my mystery!

What’s solved? You can see the silver connection soldered to the board in the picture

Turn your heated mirrors on and see if one heats up and the one with the clip hanging out of it does not... That will possibly prove or dismiss your theory of it being part of the circuit board...

I agree with Musicsevil it has all the markings of a clip...

There are two spring clips attached to the back of the glass on the upper and lower outside of the mirror. I'm pretty sure that's what the OP's picture shows.

I have my old broken mirror in the garage so I took a couple of pictures. They aren't great but I think you can see the clips. I don't know what purpose they serve, maybe help keep the glass from vibrating?

Yep, that's it!!!! Now the question is, how the heck do I get it back in it's rightful place? Probably be necessary to pull the mirror glass?

It's really better to replace the mirror glass.

That tab should be soldered, but the wrong temp will delaminate the mirror.
