Yepers, Changing one thing would be like putting a 2000 HP engine in an otherwise stock vehicle, it will destroy the transmission, rear end, not to mention twist the frame/chassis and be impossible to get traction or stop with the factory single piston calipers (older cars)... But by the time you upgrade everything to make it safe and not self destruct and not turn into a pretzel, you have changed everything and have compromised everything about the vehicle making it streetable...

Do the total package, or pay now or pay later... But you are still going to have to pay to play... lol

Right now, I'm interested in upgraded OEM shocks.

Ordering them thru the dealership and having them install as well.

The shocks researched by the Parts Dept were these:

    upload_2025-1-26_10-11-25.png

The Technician who does install says I need new coils...the Parts Guy said there were no other components required for this upgrade.

I also asked what the factory settings were for these shocks...Parts Guy is going to call Mother Toyota and let me know.

Meanwhile, Parts Guy from NY Dealership, that helped me get my OEM TRD Skid at a fantastic price to include shipping ($302) said they are set to 2".

Of course I will get them to do wheel alignment (they should recommend it) and see the difference in length from the center of the wheel hub to the fender. (Currently just below 21")

I got -12 offset ... No issues for now. I don't have AT tires yet.

Yeah I have -12 offset on mine. Works great.

Interesting. Never saw this kit from TRD . It's also reasonably priced for a set of 4 shocks

My price is $395 but still a good deal here in Delaware...not sales tax!

    They are Bilsteins too!

Having the dealership do the install would be a better decision for me.

Plus, I've come to trust the dealership here in Dover, DE for over 2 years now.

I got the ditch light brackets from CaliRaised so I get the switch from them as well, No noticable wind noise from the MaxTrax but the stereo is usually turned up so I wouldn't hear it anyway. The rain guards are ......ahhhhhh. would I do it again, no.....water still gets in the inside of the doors when it's raining. IMG_7211.jpg

-10 or -12 offset is less than 1/2”. That 1/2” is not going to make a difference. Now running a -38 or something like that on a Tacoma will make a difference. But Kai is correct that the more (less) offset you have and the farther out your wheels sick will increase the scrub radius, likely cause more interference with body mounts, plastic, etc and put more wear on components. IMO -10/-12 is about the same as a 0

I know that. I like tires stick out a bit further than the flare. Which is why I don't need the spacers for that reason.

I did not know that...rookie here! lol

My truck has Bushwacker Fendies and I'd like a little bit of Pokey with new wheels too!

Running OEM setup until I reach 60K miles...or thereabouts.

Decided to remove my Air Dam…was hesitant because I do a lot of highway driving. But took it 30 minutes down the highway and saw no difference in mpg’s. Love the look though.

Actually…. I did see a good use for those on a jeep. The guy rigged 2 on each side of his steps to blink with his turn signals,(between the rocker and the step).. thought that was pretty slick.

If you want to save some $ install the rear shocks. Don’t have to do much to install them.

Are you hoping to add a 2" lift with the shocks, or do you already have a 2" lift and just replacing the shocks??

Springs hold the vehicle up and the shocks hold the tire down, putting it loosely, meaning just adding shocks will not give you a lift, that is the job of the springs.. Yes pressurized shocks will indeed add a little height, but if you add a 2" longer shock to an otherwise stock suspension then you take a risk of bottoming out the shocks before the bump stop and damaging them beyond repair...

Another words, the shocks and springs need to match...
Also remember, the parts guy is just a salesman and normally not very technical, whereas the mechanic does this and knows what is required to do the job...

These are 5100s with less clip settings in the front, and some stickers. Check the price of 5100s likely cheaper unless youre also going for the look.

I assume? I was late to post this as I actually did it back in November but haven’t been on the forum much.
