Hey everyone first time posting here so please be gentle. I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma Trd sport. I’m having issues with. I jumped in it one day to go run to town. I made it halfway down the driveway and it stalled just turned off. I have not been able to start it since it turns over will not start. I’ve had my mechanic look at it. He can’t figure it out We know it’s wiring because the ignition tenant fuse keeps blowing. I’ve traced wires. I’ve pulled the injectors. I’ve checked the plugs. I’ve checked the coils. It seems as soon as I start plugging in the second coil on anywhere on the motor and then pull the fuse to check it. It’ll pop Has anyone had any problems with the wiring or has heard of anything like this when I push the button to turn the dash on every bloody light on the dash turns on every warning light goes through the dash I’m honestly at a loss here like I have no idea what to do anymore I will attach a picture here too cause i wanna lol I’ve checked every damn wire in this bloody truck now The only thing I’ve done to this truck is attached to Pedal Commander. I bought it used about a month ago and I’ve been working on it for about three weeks trying to figure out this wiring. Anyone got any ideas? My mechanic wants to run another line to run another fuse one for the injectors one for the coils I’m gonna be calling a Toyota dealership near me in Manitoba here on Monday cause I don’t know what to do anymore and I can’t tow it anywhere. I’m too far gone north and I can’t afford it either

    If i understand you,
Plugging in the #2 ignition coil blows a fuse?

    What fuse?
    And when does it blow?
As soon as it is plugged in, or when you press the ignition switch?

There's a few 10 amp fuses for engine control, so we need to know specifically whichone.

Tearing apart the harness like that isnt typical with the industry. We usually see that from backyard mechanics.

To me if its coil related I'd be checking the harness for simple short/open/continuity to the ecu. And I'd 100% pull the ecu out and inspect for internal burns.

It's possible the pedal commander damaged the ECU, or water damage on ECU.

I think you need someone more qualified, but the problem is we tend to charge freely when someone else has already been monkeying around.

Once I had this similar type of job show up and the mechanic didnt restore fuses that they removed. This adds complexity to a problem. Which means time.

Wow was that ever a quick reply you guys I use voice to text too so it might get confusing. It is the fuse that blows is the 10 amp injector one when you’re looking at your cover top left second from the second from the left, I can plug in my coils, one at a time and check the fuse. Pull it to check to see if it blew Kind of thing and it’s fine if I plug in two coils, and I pulled the fuse to check to see if it’s OK it pops when I put it back in. I have not pulled the ECU yet that’s my next option and that was my first thought right off the hop too was I think I tried the computer somehow Would Pedal Commander actually do that and I have no leaks in the vehicle for water to get in whatsoever I haven’t seen anything inside this truck besides when I spilled my drink on myself

Voice to text is hard to decipher and my advice is loose at best.

Water gets into the cabin slowly from leaking windshields and most of the time the owner has no clue.

It's something I've learned to check for, along with burn marks on the ECU internally.

So the fuse only blows if you plug in more than one coil or only when you plug in cylinder #2 coil?

    Not going to lie man.
    Calling the dealership won't help.
Taking it to the dealership, they'll likely throw a wiring harness at it, and THEN start the diagnosis.

This isn't going to be an easy thing to diagnosis, for anyone.

I'll do my best to help. But from the looks and sound of it, there's a very slim chance we will get anywhere.
Not without being there in person, and even then. We got a mess on our hands.

Is t possible a rodent got in there somewhere and chewed some wires? Did you try it without the pedal commander? I’m just throwing out suggestions. As for rodents check your cabin air filter, they usually get in from there.

And for the sake of whoever works on the truck.
    Take the Pedal Commander OFF.
You don't need to add any more piece to the puzzle.
That Pedal Commander doesn't belong in your puzzle.....If you know what I mean?

I was going to say; there's a good chance a dealer won't touch this, until a new harne$$ is installed. This "mechanic" owns this, and looks to be way out of his element.

Whenever I Plug in Anything more than the one coil it will pop the fuse when I pull the fuse out and check it and then go to put it back in is when it pops. Pedal Commander is out now no chance of rodents at all this mechanic is a certified mechanic very good at his job as well just not great at electronics cause he hates them. He’s old school. I pulled all the loom off the wiring harness cause he said look for a hard short, so I’ve inspected every wire in thisthing

Does it blow with the ignition off?
Or is the ignition on when you are checking the fuse.

It's never a good idea to replace a fuse when the circuit is under load.

Also, you say when you put it back in.
Does pressing down on the fuse (at anytime) make the fuse blow?

Also, You and your mechanic are going to need wiring diagrams.
You have at least 3 different connectors before the INJ fuse get to the ECM and the injectors.

Also, is it the same same injector that blows the fuse?
Or can you try different injectors, and it still blow the fuse?

Also, a test light will help here.
    Fuse are expensive.....

Fuses yes are very expensive but I have a friend who is an auto wrecker so he just lets me have a freebie in his yard. I just gotta pull them. The injectors do not pop anything. The fuse blows when I put it back in. yes I know shouldn’t put it in under load, but it shouldn’t pop under load either when I put all six coils back on and didn’t pull the fuse. It stayed going like it didn’t pop. The fuel pump recall was apparently done to this truck. I bought it used from a guy who says he hasn’t done anything to it, but I know he’s full of shit cause I see his marks all over under the hood the test light marks, electrical tape little things I’ve been picking up on

Sorry I gotta start writing down replies before I say them ignition on. I haven’t tried with it off yet, but it shouldn’t do anything cause then there’s no power to it.

    Kind at a lose here?
Then why are we messing with the fuse?

If it doesn't pop when they are all back in, then what made you think it was this fuse?

Does it just randomly pop at times?

My question is, what was the ORIGINAL problem?
What made you look at the truck in the first place?
