Vendors spamming forums

Since when did this site start allowing certain vendors to spam the forums with their products? I remember when vendors were to keep their sales posts in the vendor section. Sure, a mention here and there in other threads was fine but some are simply blasting the forums like it's a commercial just for them. I even had a mod get bent out of shape for me reporting it. Mods used to thank you for trying to keep the site from getting bogged down. What happened?

 

That would be a question for the moderators, not us ordinary forum members.
