2nd gen Manual shutter when releasing clutch in 1st gear

    Okay so maybe I’m just bad at driving manual, but with all other manual vehicles I’ve had I’ve never experienced this. When accelerating out of first year at times I will experience a shutter. It seems to me like the clutches springs are putting it into a frequency that can feel pretty bad bouncing between grabbing then slipping a bit and onwards.

    typically I would say this happens when I’m not accelerating hard enough. I know some may say well it’s the engine shuttering not the clutch because you’re going to stall the truck. It is not that I can assure you, I’m well aware of what that feels like. When accelerating harder and slipping the clutch a little more it doesn’t happen. As soon as I’m moving and the clutch is all the way out the issue stops.

    what could be causing this. I have the 2015 V6 6M and it has only 88xxxkm

    I’m thinking it could be that darned clutch accumulator.
    Haven’t deleted mine yet, but sometimes have to be very careful when changing gears, other times seems fine.
    I’ve been using RedLine MT90 as per other gurus here’s recommendations.

    Funny I was actually thinking that too with the whole accumulator. I was looking at what some of the solutions would be yesterday. Would the fluid really make much of a difference? I know I’m getting to the point where I should be doing a change but gear wise everything does feel smooth.

    minor tweaks
    That's also one of the symptoms of a clutch that has been overheated at some previous time.

    Only happening in 1st gear??

    Im considering the accumulator delete as well but deciding which method. The Honda s2000 braided cable mod seems the easiest to me.

    are you sure its not a vibe from somewhere else? Carrier bearing and u-joints all in good shape?

    So the 4 bangers have a clutch actuator?

    It could also be one of the spring dampeners in the clutch puck. My old clutch had a significant shudder…turned out one of the springs had broken. I replaced with a new Oem one and the problem was solved.

    What does that look like and do you have any audio examples and pictures?

    I ask as I have 238k miles and still running my original clutch.

    I don’t have any pics or audio.

    However, here’s a generic photo of an OEM clutch for illustrative purposes. The 4 springs in the center of the clutch as a dampener, which absorb the moments of force on applied to the axis of the transmission input shaft. The 4 springs are positioned in a symmetrical pattern around the center of the clutch which aid in keeping the axis of the applied torsional forces in line with the axis of the input shaft. Said differently, this helps to keep the clutch disengagement smooth. As in my case, when one of the four springs breaks, the axis of the applied torsion forces moves away from the center of the input shaft which introduces vibrations.

    Given the high mileage on your clutch, I would also surmise that your pressure plate could also be contributing to your problem.

    The clutch accumulator mod is the least invasive of all the theoretical diagnoses discussed in this thread so I would start there. Good luck OP
