Probably means it can only communicate on CAN which 1st gens don't have.

OBDII is a standard which all passenger vehicles built after 96 must comply with but there are different communication protocols, starting around 05 the CAN (Controller Area Network) protocol started being phased in. As of 08 all vehicles are required to use the CAN protocol for Global OBDII functions, prior to that several other protocols were used.
I'm thinking since they are advertising that as 05+ it only supports CAN.

I think too many users hates the build quality anyway. I'll get a SG3 eventually.

Old android tablet + torque pro will outperform for half the cost. 1st gen OBDII ports are just too slow imo

So what does TorquePro connect to if not OBDII?

Sorry, guess I left that thought incomplete. I'm saying it's kind of useless to get better performance from the OBDII port because the J spec is so slow. If you want fancy graphics though, dirt cheap options exist

So what performance are you expecting if you just need numeric vs the dummy needle gauge?

I mean why upgrade unless you want something to perform better? To me all of them are a waste of time because it takes too long to update fast values like RPM. The bottleneck is the OBDII spec and I'm just saying nothing will fix that. So the only thing left is the visuals, which a tablet can handle... Though have a laggy startup
