100% going to do this and will probably be the first mod that I do to the car since Florida summer is coming and I know the tranny fluid is going to roast at 95 degrees.

Yeah I think I’m going to modernize the truck too. A lot of the parts are on RockAuto like automatic window parts. I just have to find the indoor skins for the truck and a donor. I even saw a post of someone customizing the console bezel so the AC controls are on the bottom and the screen on top, which was one of my first thoughts I had after purchasing the truck.

At my uni I have access to some high tech 3D Printers I could use, or I’ll just buy a bezel and do the sanding like he did in his post

My 2001 pre-runner came with manual locks and doors. I added keyless entry, bluetooth, touchscreen radio with carplay & backup camera (crutchfield for $200). The PO had it squatted with oversize tires so I had the rear end lifted to level it. Overall it rides fine and I like the upgrades.

Send pics! I'd love to see what the truck looks like, along with how you got around doing the keyless entry would be super helpful

My profile pic is the only one I have at the moment. I’m not big on taking a lot of pics but I’ll get some of the inside when I can. I had an audio guy install the keyless entry. I also had him re-wire the headlights. PO fried the connections. Also had him re-wire speakers & dome light. Lots of shoddy wiring. It has a new grille & headlights.

Was the $200 Crutchfield for everything, including the head unit and backup camera?

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Lol typical tacomaworld.com everyone is being polite and encouraging. Carry on my brothers, Carry on.

I've done the tundra brake upgrade and it easily handled 1400lb load down some steep grades, I would be nervous doing that with that stock brakes though. With a 3000 lb boat I would definitely consider a brake upgrade, that's not one you want to find out the hard way
