I posted some XGauge codes that show the transmission oil pan temps and one that can show the torque converter lockup status if that's of any use.

    Torque converter code:

I can relate. While I suppose I’m not particularly worried about it since Aisin has been making solid transmissions — bar casting cleanliness issues, anyway — for quite some time, my natural reaction to a truck with an automatic is that I want it to have an auxiliary transmission cooler.

It’s probably from watching my dad’s several GM trucks all have one transmission issue or another that ended up being related to inadequate cooling, and his long term solution being to install the inevitable GM OEM trans cooler they should have put on at the factory. GM’s got a long and sad history making crappy transmissions in general, so it’s probably not anything I should worry about unless I somehow end up with a truck with a bow-tie on it. You could see why I’d be worried, though.
