While not as clean as @Frsh2df setup, a plug-n-play option is this trailer light bar, spliced to a 4-pin connector. I installed one for the roof top tent. The lights have all running, brake, and turn functions. (Turning signals are sequential, like on the new Audi's)

Looks really good! Did the tapping into the trailer power go something like cables drop down by the tailgate and then a hole is drilled into the bed so the cable can be passed under, then a plug and play splitter for the 4 pin get used?

Thanks! I actually didn't try to run the cables. I left just enough slack and then zip-tied the rest of the cables down. In my case, the lights are mounted with the RTT, which I take off for storage. Therefore this option was most straightforward for me.

In your case, you might be able to try running the cables through the holes in the bedside storage compartment and avoid having to drill. (If you have 2019 or newer, I believe you'll only have that storage compartment on the passenger side.)

I got this wiring harness for the length. Just cut off the female adapter end and splice with the trailer lights.

Here are the pics as promised, sorry they took a few days.

Where I routed the wires through the bed there was a small gap, so no drilling was required.

that is perfect! I’m in no rush since I want to have all parts in my glamazon cart before ordering. I’ll definitely have to check the bed stiffeners for gaps in that corner! Thanks!

The lights came in a pack of 10, I used 4 on the rack and have 6 left over in case one ever burns out.

I forgot to add, it is easier to run the wires through the gap and then heat shrink them and pull them back up since it is a tight fit.

I think this might be the last time I ask something, what connects did you get for waterproof quick connects? I don't know which connectors and cables are best on Amazon without having my bed burn to the ground!

I used these and haven’t had any issues.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. But those lights appear to be gone from Amazon now. I don't even know what to call those to search for them. Does anyone know where else to find them, or recommend a similar alternative? TIA

they're generally called 'eagle eye leds'

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZXZXDBC/?th=1

though i personally prefer the 3/4 grommeted clearance lights more because the led's are slightly more reliable design, and it's more of a universal design available far more places

Thanks! After a little perseverance I finally found something similar, but this is helpful. Now I just need to figure out how to tap the brake light in the taillight housing.

I saw a guy just today that had those lights that folks put under their tailgate for brakes and blinkers mounted on the top bar of the rack.

I actually thought about that too. I’d do it, but my rack (it’s a CBI) angles inward so the top bar is narrower than the bed—too narrow for the ones I found at least.

Also, I’m still considering one of those basic brake lights meant for trailers, and just plugging it into the trailer brake light socket (next to the hitch) rather than tapping brake light wires behind the brake light housing. That would be easy to disconnect whenever I remove the RTT. But the eagle eyes are so cool.

Wasn't in Bastrop was it? I have a Baja Designs RTL-S lightbar mounted to my bedrack with turn signals, brake and running lights, and back up lights. Just mounted and wired it up a few weeks ago and I am very happy with it so far.

I highly recommend a Curt 56584 harness for that

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007EA6WQU

It connects behind the trailer plug and adds a 5 wire output at the rear of the truck. But more importantly, I use it as a sacrificial harness. Cut/spice/hack the 5 pin apart to get the functions you need, and if any problems arise, the truck can be returned to stock without modification
