I was checked ONCE in 55+ years of hunting. Bow hunting in Pa YEARS ago......I was leaving the woods and just got to my old Willys Wagon before getting ready to head back to camp. I was already an Ohio resident then, with a non-resident license. All my Pa. buddies kept telling me to use my mom's Pittsburgh-area address to get a resident license (~ $12 vs $100). Anyway, a vehicle pulls up behind me as it is getting dark. It is a Deputy Game Warden who I had met earlier when I bought my permit to hunt this property. He checks my hunting license as we are standing in back of the Willys and sees it is a non-resident one. Immediately he puts his flashlight on my license plate and sees it is from Ohio. IF I had a resident hunting license and the non-resident vehicle, I would have been up shit crick!!!

I have probably had more interaction with game wardens than any other law enforcement.
    1. I was probably 14-15 and my brother took me toa DNR shooting range to shoot with him and his friends. We didnt pay at the kiosk and got ticketed. My brother paid for that.
    2. I was 18 and on a canoe trip with guys from work. most of us were under 21 and had consumed some adult beverages. We were under a bridge about dusk and there was a homeless guy who had a fire going so we were chatting with the guy and trying to get warm from the fire. Game warden drove over the bridge and saw the fire and went to investigate. he saw kids and a few coolers and put the two together. Luckily he didn't ticket us. He lectured us and scared the hell out of us. Told us he wanted us to go home and tell our parents about us drinking and that he was going to call our houses to speak with them after taking our information. Needless to say I sat by the house phone all of Monday afternoon and night. phone never rang. He never called anyone's house and none of us told our parents.
    3. I was in my early 30's at a DNR shooting range outside of Lagrange GA. A game warden showed up to check to see who paid at the kiosk. I learned from my trip with my bother when I was younger. all was good there. He stayed around chit chatting about guns and was curious what everyone was shooting ( he could have been fishing to see if anyone had something that they weren't supposed to). Pretty cool guy but he ate into my range time with his chit chatting.

Yea I hate it but I buy my stupid fucking out of state tags every year to hunt my own land in Texas.. I’m not taking a chance there.

Got lucky this year. The chick at Walmart only charged me for resident tags but issued me non resident. It was amazing! 25 bucks vs 300

Never hunting but PNW fisheries I frequent are super regulated and patrolled.. stopped lots of times, boat or bank, they will check your hooks for barbs, catch cards etc… even out beyond buoy 10, they will pull right along side your boat and hold on.. get both Oregon or WA Leo’s out here on the Columbia as it forms a border..

Never been checked in the field, only at mandatory game check points.

    Oh yeah....
One time me and a buddy were going catfishing on the Ohio River....we were gonna take my boat but he decided he wanted to take his instead. I told him we should take mine cause it had all the legal shit in it. He says nah, we're taking mine.

    Illinois requires:
    Lifejackets
    A throwable floatation whatever
    Fire extinguisher
All batteries must be in some form of container.

    His boat had....none of that.
    So off we went!!!

Yep, here they come; pulled up next to us and (of course) asked about all of those things (although we did have fishing license ). So the GW told my buddy he could fine him for multiple things but was just going to give him one fine (I think it was 100 bucks). As they were leaving, my buddy hollered, "hey, can we keep fishing?"

    "No"

I've been checked a few times. One ticket. I was squirrel hunting while the guys I was going with were deer hunting. Almost every time we got back to the truck they were like "didn't see a deer" and I was like "I had three deer 10 yards away". So like the last day of archery season I borrowed a bow and arrows and was going to show these guys how it's done. Being last day not running into town to get a tag. If I actuality killed one I would have before transporting it. Every day that season I had deer close and never saw a CO. That day I saw no deer and a CO. You are only young and dumb once.

My neighbor and I walked out back together then separated, after 2 hours, we both had deer within 30 seconds of one another. I tagged an 8, and his first buck was the 9 point. North central Pennsyltucky.
