So I’ve noticed for about a week that no matter what I have the heater blower set on the speed will occasionally slow down or even stop then start going again. Would seem like the resistor but if that was the case wouldn’t it still work normally on high? The blower motor has seemed to make more noise recently. Am I correct in thinking this is the blower motor? I just replaced it maybe a year ago. Could the speed switch cause this?

Could be the motor, but also check the plug for any signs of short - melting, burning, etc.

Mine did the same thing, sounded like a baseball card in bike spokes and then would speed up. Put in a new blower motor and fixed it. I will say that the aftermarket blower I put it doesn't spin as fast as the oem one though, just something to be aware of.

I'd inspect that filter, I'd guess its pretty dirty. It sounds more like resistor to me, but I've been wrong.

Mostly stock, just getting it to my liking, just happy to have had the taco and now my 4Runner.
Have you had a chance to pull your blower motor and inspect it yet? Or the resistor?

Just wondering which is 100% the culprit?

I have 3 blower motors and a new Dorman resistor kit listed on my yard sale page. Long story short how I got all of these I was a perfectionist for the fan noise and took several motors and made 1 perfect silent running one after figuring out it wasn’t the resistor that I had bought to solve the fans issues.

These low temps nobody needs to be without heat, cover the shipping and I’ll send you whichever one you need to get it back to running if I can help.

Mine was a 2015 Tacoma but I think these were all the same for 2nd gen’s? If I’m wrong someone can chime in.
