So I recently went and looked at a 95 tacoma extra cab 5 SPD 3.4 4x4.. it has 320k miles, but is in pretty good shape apart from minor scratches, rust on the hitch and rock chips on the hood. it was one owner up until he passed away and the daughter sold it to the man that has it listed now. anyway, misfire in cylinder 6. Im going to go over and do a compression test and also swap the plug/plug wires/coil pack and see if the misfire goes to a different cylinder, then decide if I want to buy it. I just want to know what other people think. yes I know its a lot of miles, but is it enough to say no? Its timing belt was replaced in 08 at 244 thousand as well and it is a 4x4. also let me know what you would offer if you were me. thankyou

I want to say it is but honestly not sure, the guy claims to say the Carfax is loaded with everything done to the truck, all services and everything done since brand new. I forget to take a look at Carfax when I went the first time.

Why …to many miles …already showing signs of issues … unless you want a project . The problem with older vehicles is it’s a never ending process .. you fix one thing then something else goes out . Unless you plan to do a full restore I would consider something newer with less milage .

I had a 1994 SR5 V6 4x4 that I had to replace the motor at +/- 311,000 miles. There was (is) a small piece of sheet metal under the oil filler cap that broke off and was sucked into the engine. She was burning a little oil but otherwise ran fine until the .50 cent piece of sheet metal problem. I replaced the clutch with the new motor but would not have done so if I had known the condition of the original clutch. I put a little over 100,000 miles of the new motor with no other issues. Had the body not rusted out, I might still be driving her.

wow thats terrible. Definetely something I will check if I go back and look at buying the truck. how much did it cost you to have the engine replaced? if I end up do buying this truck I want to make sure that the price is low enough to where I'd have the cost of a new engine covered if this one does have a major failure.

It was around $6,000 installed but that was 20 to 25 years ago.

prices definitely look friendlier today. I was born 17 years ago.. I wish I could have been on the road with all the older cars instead of the overpriced garbage we get today.
