    Hey Guys
Im going to be weatherproofing my tacoma bed - running some silicone under the bed caps. What brands of silicone/caulk do have you used and recommend?

OP, are you aware Toyota has no sealant between the composite bed and the steel fender. This shows up on a stock truck near the rear. People who run very large tires and remove the fender liner get tons of water much of the length of the bed.

The plastic cap is just one of the water paths.

I have yet to see a very good solution.

This is what I used. Good stuff.

I also added a foam block made from weatherstripping as shown. I don't get any water in the bed.

Really like the foam block idea. Question - why did you place the weatherstripping in the corner, rather than running it the length of the cap?

The foam block just filled the opening at that specific location. I ran beads of the sealant under the bed caps, matching up to the underside ribs.

@robe689 thanks for passing on. I like the idea of butyl tape under the caps moreso than running silicone. I see that Sika makes a butyl caulking [Sika 714] and I might try that under the bed caps to prevent water/dust from seeping into the bed.
