    Hello,

I've been digging around on here for answers to my questions, but thought I would just ask and see what people say for my specific situation. I drive a 2nd gen SR5 4.0L and am looking at buying a 2 spot sled trailer. Estimated loaded weight is 3,000 lbs, plus gear in the truck. I would like to upgrade my back end so I'm level and am not riding on my bump stops. I'm guessing I would be hauling it a dozen times a year.

    The options I'm looking at:
    1) Firestone ride rite airbags with stock leafs
    2) Firestone ride rite airbags with upgraded leafs

I know there are other options like RAS, sumo springs, etc. But based on what I've read I would likely do one of the options listed above. Is upgrading leafs with air bags overkill? Are airbags enough?

    thanks for your time

Assuming you have the tow package you shouldn’t have to do anything to your truck to tow 3000lbs. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to install airbags or upgraded leafs but I don’t see the need or real benefit. I have a second gen Sport TRD 4x4 with tow package. My only upgrade is heavy duty rear leafs (which I didn’t really need). I tow my boat/trailer which is 3500 lbs with no problems or complaints. In your case other than a brake controller (assuming your trailer has brakes) I wouldn’t do anything. Wait til you get the trailer and tow it, then decide if you want or need any tow mods.

I appreciate the insight. Yes, I have tow package and brakes on the trailer. A controller is on order.
