    I have 3.
Got 2 when I purchased new.
They gave me an additional one at my first complimentary service. I just said thanks and didn’t ask any questions.

Got one from eBay made sure to match the board on the original, programed thru techstream in 5 min, lock/unlock from the fob buttons works, problem is no proximity on the door handle nor anywhere around also got to touch the PTS to start. Any ideas?

I used Tom's key to get a 3rd Remote H key for my SR5 and a plain chip key. Rented the programmer, was super efficient and way less then the dealership. Now I have 4 keys total.

There seems to be contradictory information on Tom's site. Using a computer (not phone) in the Programming tab for that key it says it is programmable. I do not know - give them a call in the morning, might mention you have Techstream and the troubles you have had with an eBay vendor.

My 2021 is a HYQ14FBA with a 2110 AG board. It seems Toyota changed the key. Perhaps the vendors do not know that 2023 is different?

As per your other trouble in range and having to hold the key up to the ignition, check to make sure your new eBay key matches your original key in every way. Bitch to the eBay vendor.

I got two when I bought my 2022, didn’t even think about it. I always thought you get at least tow with a new car. Can’t imagine not getting two. Me and the salesman would have had a not so pleasant talk if only one came with the truck.

Ended up RMA the problematic one and ordered another refurbished OEM with exact same board as original, new seller(key/fob reseller with good reviews) claims accepts returns and never heard of not being to program Mex build Tacos. Will report after it arrives and program with tech stream.

Used OEM arrived today, it took 5 min to program with TS (Including deleting the faulty aftermarket one). Moral of the story don't lose your fobs, also negotiate vehicle price if it's missing key(in my case). Lesson learned. Do yourself a favor and don't pay the stealership. Get yourself cable and TS and DYI!

This is excellent advice. There is typically a standard “We Owe” form that lists everything owed that should be signed by both parties.

Took a while but I ended up with 3 'keys' for my 2021.
Chip shortage caused a delay but I eventually got 2 more.

I won't buy a car that works with a 'fob' or 'push-button-start' or 'start-stop' technology.

Guess my 2021 is the end of the line for me.
Hell I won't live long enough to need to buy a new car anyway.

That sucks... I am glad that my truck is from Texas, before they moved Tacoma production to Mexico in 2021.

I'm still hesitant for being MEX build, that's my 3rd Taco previous 2 second gen were US built. When I was researching quality difference someone on TW said "you can choose built in Texas by mexican or built in Mexico by mexican" LOL only time will tell. If its up to me I'll only be getting Japanese made but unfortunately they don't make Tacos out there:). As far as my fob adventure I'm glad I didn't go with Toms nothing against I'm just frugal (cheap ) and stretch my $. That pushed me to further research alternative options and the whole think costed me $90 (cable +refurb OEM fob) plus the cable comes handy as we're Toyota family

I just like you did it yourself and did not rely upon others to get it done. Always rewarding.

Techstream may come in real handy in the future too.
