Long story short, back last year I had an accident where another driver made a right on red and hit me…although there was an independent witness that chased them as they fled the scene their company is denying responsibility of the accident. Months later me and my passenger are still fighting the other company

as a result I’m looking for a good dash cam, there’s tons of Chinese ones on Amazon and stuff but I’m not very tech savvy and don’t know what to buy. What do tw members have and recommend

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
VanTrue N4 3 Channel .... have had the last 3 VanTrue Models and they are high quality.

FWIW ... this model is the best bang for the buck with 3 channels

Not cheap, but you can catch them on sale too.

PS ... I ALWAYS use a dash cam .. I have tried different brands before and I liked this brand the best.

sorry to hear, unfortunately, that's just the state of things.

not to make too long of a post about it, but my buddy has his truck PARKED in front of his house, and someone ran into it going far too fast for the posted speed limit, shoved the trucks spare tire from behind the rear axle to within 6" of the cab.. they had one of those cheap SR-22 'we insure anyone' companies for insurance, he had liability only, because it's an old truck. police report makes all of these details apparent.

the persons insurance still said the accident was my buddies fault, and refused payment. he talked to a few lawyers, all of who said they'd agree to take the case, but it likely wouldn't go anywhere.

the bigger synopsis of what the lawyers told him is this. these cut-rate insurance companies make their money by never paying out. take them to court, they ask to reschedule. and reschedule. and this. and that. indefinitely, until you either drop the case, or run out of money pursuing them. their lawyers are on their payroll, so there's zero additional cost for them to file a little paperwork drag the situation out, but you represent a significant cost disadvantage to be paid for your claim.

so even in his case, a dash cam wouldn't have helped in the slightest.

the best option, and the one not available to my friend because his insurance was liability-only, but hopefully an option for you if you have full coverage on the vehicle, is to file the claim through your insurance, pay the deductible, and allow them and the lawyers on their substantial payroll to go after the other company. worst case you're out the deductible, but you needed to get the vehicle repaired anyways, and it's a lesson in legalities and technicalities.

That’s pretty much what we did and the situation we are in. Bad thing is in my state medical and collision count as two different claims and will raise your rates even higher. Plus the payout for medical against your own company is pretty low.

They’ve done a good job of making excuses not to pay my passenger. My insurance filed a subrogation request in October and still hasn’t heard from the other company. My attorney said to file collision on my own policy, let them subrogate and when the decision flips then hire him to go after them for personal injury for myself and the passenger
