Today I was installing a new steering wheel on the truck and when pulling it I forgot to unplug one wire. When the steering wheel came off so did the clock spring. I was able to get a new one from the Toyota dealer nearby and put everything back together. I am now getting alerts like
    Headlight system malfunction
    Pre collision system malfunction
    Stability control system
    Lane departure alert malfunction

anyone know what I could have missed and or how to fix these issues?

I'm just surprised the clock has a spring.

    Digital clocks have springs?

Seriously, what is a clock spring?

It is what makes the steering wheel buttons work, and the horn.

I just looked it up, you learn something new every day! That little thing is integral with making all sorts of stuff operate properly including the air bag.

Toyota calls it the spiral cable.

Note to self.. Don't install new steering wheel. I would never be able to fix all that stuff.

Turns out I’m a little bit dense and forgot a plug on the clock spring assembly. Plugged it back in and good as new. P.s. unplug everything if you change the steering wheel. Clock spring cost me $500

It needs to be recalibrated. The steering wheel controls on my last truck quit working so I replaced the spiral cable/clock spring fairly easily. Still needed a shop to calibrate it.

EDIT - missed your post above. That's great news, I wasn't so lucky.

Hopefully the codes stay off and don’t pop up while I’m driving

    Please elaborate on the calibration.

I've replaced many clock springs in Toyota trucks and have never calibrated. What symptoms were you seeing?

This was on my previous Nissan Titan. Stability control was disabled and I didn't have the special tools to reset.

I hate these type of threads.

Always takes me back to swapping out the clock spring, er, ribbon cable on my 2002 Tundra.

I've removed the air bag, unscrewed the steering wheel nut, but that wheel won't come off. I'm beating on the back side with a 2 pound persuader and no joy.

I remember that my dent puller kit has a bearing puller attachment.

Sure enough, that bracket bolts right up to the steering wheel.

I attach the dent puller and start doing the gentle slap. No joy. That wheel is still being stubborn.

Ok, I'm sitting in the drivers seat and am getting pissed!

I decide to give that puller handle " full beans"

That wheel popped free, but not before the 3 pounds of slag iron dotted me in the forehead!

I cut my mellon open and bled all over my shirt and gave myself a 20 hour headache!

So, don't use the HF dent puller with the bearing puller attachment to pull your steering wheel!

    Learn from my mistake.
