A brand I found on Amazon. I searched a ton and decided on these. They seem to be good quality and fit nicely on the seats.

I had a crappy day of being defeated by seized up leaf spring bolts. I've replaced lots of still good parts on this truck, and being a month behind schedule, I almost skipped the rear bearings. But, I soldiered on. Looks like I made the right call..

Rolled my rear passenger window down last night and it wouldn't roll up at all. Popped the switch out this morning, disassembled it and cleaned the contacts, works great now. Did the rear drivers side switch while I was at it. Thankful it was an quick and easy fix.

    Shit happens..

I'm primarily irritated at the dealer. Super helpful with verifying part numbers and other stuff up front, didn't seem to get annoyed when I'd check on order status for longer lead things...so I was surprised to get the cold shoulder with both issues. Would have preferred being told to pound sand TBH, but definitely going elsewhere with my future business.

I bought a Carplay Adapter retrofit kit today and installed it on my 2014 base model access cab 4x4. Here's a link to the adapter. I found someone selling the exact same thing on FB Marketplace for $100 but he was a little bit of a ride for me so I offered him $70 to make the 1.5 hr ride worth it and he agreed. When I got there he said he bought a pallet of unclaimed goods and this was in there. It was still new and unused but I was worried it might have been returned. At this point I drove all that way so figured why not.

When I got home I got started on the install right away. It took me a bit to figure out the install as it does not come with any installation instructions, you have to figure it out on your own. The hardest part was getting the head unit back in place with all of the additional wiring behind it. I had to fight with it a bit before I finally got it back in place and secured. The adapter does come with a user's manual for using it once it's been installed and I followed the instructions to pair it with my phone. However, I found just using the wired CarPlay to be easier and am using the USB connection that came with it.

I've seen other review of this product on here and many people complained about the screen resolution, but I disagree. For a stock head unit from 2014, I think it looks pretty damn good. I'm very impressed with how well CarPlay works and love that I was able to keep my stock stereo. Anyone unfamiliar with Tacoma's would think mine just came stock with CarPlay. It even retains use of the steering wheel controls. My original plan was to try to find a used head unit from a 2020 or newer Taco that had CarPlay plus an adapter harness from Auto Harness House, but it was nearly impossible to find a used head unit and when I did, they were crazy expensive. Plus the harness was another $125. With that being said, I'm super happy with the $70 adapter I got today and I highly recommend pulling the trigger if you are thinking of getting one. It works great! I have a video as well but this forum won't accept the file type of my video for some reason.

I didn't know this was an option. I've considered upgrading my stereo to a 2.5 unit, but the lack of an upto date, or any, navigation feature is why I decided not to. This changes things.

So this is an adapter that gives you Carplay on the stock head unit? I've got a 2012, I wonder if it works with the jbl unit? Been thinking about replacing with a new head unit but that would be way cleaner.

Preventative maintenance. Replaced thermostat, radiator cap, upper & lower radiator hoses, 2 gallons of Toyota Long-Life pink coolant. Cleaned engine bay when completed. Those hose tension clamps are a freaken b****.
