Hi. I have a 1996 Tacoma with a push button 4wd shifter that is not working so I am unable to shift out of 4wd. I pulled the cap off the transfer case actuator but it looked dry and clean inside so I’m going to take a look at the front C7F05673-BC4C-4CD8-A420-43B85B7029B6.jpg 8DFCD3A8-CA02-4ADD-A3D4-3DC791C37746.jpg 10D10577-722A-4C22-9CF0-43EE0BEA29C8.jpg C7F05673-BC4C-4CD8-A420-43B85B7029B6.jpg 8DFCD3A8-CA02-4ADD-A3D4-3DC791C37746.jpg 10D10577-722A-4C22-9CF0-43EE0BEA29C8.jpg ADD actuator next.

I’m wondering if anyone has ever seen this type of actuator on a Tacoma transfer case. All the videos and threads I’ve read through have a black plastic cover with metal tracing on the inside of the cap and the three prongs on the gear inside.

Mine has the 3 prongs on the inside of the cap and the metal tracing is on the gear inside. Just curious as someone I know thought maybe it was a transfer case from a 4Runner?

Anyways this group has been a wealth of information and I appreciate all the great threads I’ve read though.
