My 2020 AG PRO had the driver side cylinder head replaced at 16K miles. 2 cylinders failed the leak down test. Toyota refused an extended warranty at the time due to the balance of the factory warranty remaining. I am at 20,000 miles now. The dealership that replaced the head called and offered me a $9.95 oil change. I took them up on their offer. My 3 year 36,000 mile warranty expires in about 3 weeks. I know I have 5 year 60K remaining on the powertrain. While here for poo's and giggles I checked on an extended warranty. Normally I would never consider one. But being I can't actually just replace this truck. And being the motor has been opened up I'm considering one. They offered me a Toyota extended warranty $100 deductible, 7 year 100,000 miles from time of purchase. That would put the truck under full warranty other than wear items minus the deductible for next 7 years and to 120,000 miles for
$1,600. Worth it or not? Do you think I should spend the cash for the piece of mind?

    EDIT: 2/2/2025
Toyota did offer an extended warranty after the truck developed a very small oil leak on one of the valve covers about 20 months back, 5 years 100,000 miles. I am now at the end of the 5 years with 26,000 miles on the truck. So I'll ask the same question. Should I try and get an extended warranty now?
I drive about 3,000 miles a year. It's been 2 years since the cylinder head was replaced with the only other issue being the small oil leak which was repaired. Other than that in 5 years the truck has had 0 other issues.
I can afford any repairs if needed but is it worth the money for piece of mind and a possible cost savings?

if through toyota it would go through 7yrs and 100k from original new sale date. They don't "stack." It does not add 100k from time of purchase.
search the forum. You can get 7/125 for $1250 from jerry. With zero deductible.
I started a thread about it a while back.

If an actual Toyota warranty, I would, regardless of the previous repairs.
I know I know,,, a financially responsible person would have enough cash to buy his house, his truck, and still have a six figures in his checking account and not have to finance or insure his repairs,,,,, cool story.

I’d do it, it’s nothing to spend a $1000 at the dealer now.

I asked that question. Finance Manager said the warranty starts from time of the purchase of the warranty. If you buy the warranty when buying the truck new. Then yes, it runs concurrent. That's the reason to wait till your warranty is about to expire.
I'll find out the truth either way. I'll want to see it in writing.

    You got bad information.
He is wrong. If it is a toyota plan it does not work that way.
He's trying to sell you something, I'm not.

Me and you bought around the same time. We also have similar amount of miles on the vehicles. I just bought one from Jerry at Midwest. $715 for 7 yrs 75,000 miles. The biggest difference maker for me is that if there is a problem, I just won’t fix it. Or it will go on my list of things to do and I’ll get around to it a year later.
