I did a small patch of Chicory last year. They were on it briefly, that's it.
    Gonna stick with the tubers.

I have a friend who moved out west a couple years ago and went to guide school. I'll send you his phone number and you can shoot him a text and talk with him. Not saying you have to go with him but he will talk with you and tell you the truth

I tried chicory once as well, they walked through it going to other stuff. Same with buckwheat, first frost and it was all dead and they wouldn't touch it.

We’ve been buying all of our seed from a local Farm Service business. We use a mixture of Winter Rye, Triticale, Winter Wheat, turnips, radishes, collards, rape and oats. I know that seems like a lot but it gives the deer something to feed on from early to late season.

Its kinda the lowest part of property. No springs or creeks just seems to be real muddy when it rains, and wooded. I want to get a mulcher machibe in there. I have to rent equipment because i cant get anyone to come out despite numerous calls to different people.

I’ve got the same issue. We know one dude who has a skid steer and a mulcher who came out once but it was just under 2k for 10-11 hours of mulching. With the honey locust, that about the only way you can clear land out in my neck of the woods.

I’d love to do cover crop but essentially you’re only going to get about 30% of what you plant because of the damn pigs. Hell I can’t even run feeders anymore cause they are all destroyed by them in a couple seasons. My goal is to get back down there this summer to build some pig proof feeders and to finish off a couple blinds that are about 40% complete

Have you tried using hog panels around your feeders. They’re heavy duty and low enough that deer can jump over them.

I’ve attempted them before with little success, they usually only delay the process.

Can you get a dozer in there? A good operator can get a lot done in a half a day.

It's a great recipe and I add 3x on the chili power & cumin. This time I added a can of black beans too.

That's pretty close to what ours land looks like in the woods. Cole and I murdered a lot of trees with the chainsaw and skidsteer. Need a trackhoe to dig stumps up.

Before, during, and after. I'm not done cutting......yet.
