The noise is louder than the video makes it sound. The sound happens going over dips on and off road, as slow as 5mph.

The suspension was professionally installed at The Truck Shop in San Diego (8660 Miramar Rd). There was no noise with the stock suspension and I immediately noticed the noise after installation. I've taken the truck to them twice, and both times they say they can't find anything wrong despite the obvious noise.

Let me know if you recognize the sound. Thanks!

Huh... I have that same sound too. Doesn't always do it on mine but enough to notice.

I've got the older version 5100s and 885 springs.

It's the coils that are making that noise?? It sounds like thats what it is but it kinda sounds like they are loose or the top cap isn't totally tight on mine. I haven't checked. Doesn't sound like its coming from the ECGS bushing but I'm no expert.

If you give it a few hundred miles to settle. I bet it goes away. What clip position are yours set at? Mine would make a clunk after going over a bump until they settled. Now they are perfect.

I've put 10k miles on them with no change, unfortunately. I was told by the installer that it would settle and be fine..

6112s are at maximum height. I'm thinking about lowering them to see if that helps.

I can’t watch the video at the moment, but have you checked your lower control arm alignment bolts to make sure they’re torqued to 100ft lbs (that’s the second gen spec) mine made an awful sound and two of my bolts had maybe 20ft lbs - tightened them up and it went away. I know it’s a long shot, but fixed mine. Reason I bring it up, the mechanics I took it too thought the coil spring was making the noise.

Might have more valuable input if I could get the vid to play.

Hello, do you still have this video available? I am starting to experience a similar noise and wanted to compare it with what you were experiencing. Thanks.

Old thread but any fixes? I have a loud clunking issue with the 6112’ I can feel it in steering and in the floorboards. I have everything new on the front end and no sway bar. It’s only option is the coil over or body mounts.

I got the same thing. Also curious if anyone dove into this and figured out something. Almost feels like something is loose but I can’t get it to make the noise when I shake or jump up and down in the front. Only over small, jarring bumps is when I can feel it.

How much down travel do you guys have? When I initially set up my elkas at 3" they would top out constantly and it made one hell of a racket that was felt throughout the truck.

it’s not a ton honestly. Mine is set to max height and when I jack the front up it doesn’t take much to get it off the ground. I’ve wondered if that was part of the issue too and I’m just topping my shocks out occasionally but I tend to feel it more when I’m at the bottom of a bump and not when the shock comes back up.

I’m not on max height, I think 3 from the bottom. I have a new set of locked off road IFP’s replacing them once I get a chance to put them on. And it absolutely isn’t a bottom out or top out because it has more to do with chatter bumps. I’ve narrowed it down to the internals most likely the rebound being the issue I have good compression on big bumps still but rebound is gone. My 5160’s are also making the noise now and they are how I figured out the rebound issue. I get the old Cadillac hop and I have been spinning the rears on just normal bumps now so it’s definitely an internal issue.

I just recently had a set 6112/5160s installed with Dirt King UCAs and I was having the same issue with hearing a minor clunk noise when turning or going over bumps. I couldn’t figure it out, and it was really driving me crazy. I ended up taking it to a different shop and it was a loose bolt on the sway bar end links. Now my suspension is silent.

Sadly can’t be sway when you don’t have one. I did notice my end link on one side is completely bent 10-15 degrees so will need to get some new Ones before I reinstall.
