    This is a truck.
There are many like it but this one is mine.
My truck is my best friend.
    It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.

Mine is a trail hog so yeah plenty of war wounds - all minor so far. lots of pin strips, took a pretty good hit on the right front corner so it looks a little rough. I guess the worst was cracking the left rear bumper bracket, the bumper cover was fine - go figure - I replaced the bracket for ~$80 then saw where I could get even a cheaper knock off for $44 . . . oh well. My sliders definitely saved me a couple of times. Two mods that also saved me were the exhaust cut off just past the rear axle (when I broke the rear bumper gasket the exhaust would have definitely been smashed if it were stock. And the exhaust re-route for a flat RCI transfer case skid plate the few times I went rock surfing.

If that was my 2023 I would be sick. I wouldn’t play on the trails with your daily driver unless you have other transportation or otherwise you may find yourself walking. That’s way too nice of a truck to be jacked up like that buy you an older truck if you want to play unless you have lots of $ you don’t mind wasting. JMHO

Why not?? We buy these for the reliability and capability!! I agree there should always be a plan B but how new or old the truck is should have no bearing on how you use it. My truck was less than 2 months old when this happened…no regerts

Oh my daughter was laughing her ass off! You can see her in the window. Got out and looked and knew it was over after that. Now I’ve cut fenders, put a snorkel on, damaged every panel, and still daily it. But I have another car to fall back on. After that first trip I ordered a custom plate that says “pinstripes” and I think it’s fitting.

More than I care to admit... the bumper cut happened because all the plastics in the lower half fell apart

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having fun with the family. Through the years I have spent a lot of money on trucks putting them back together after a weekend of fun and I have no regrets.

thats a badge of honor. If you don't eventually end up doing some kind of damage to your truck....you ain't wheeling.

The picture driving through the water reminds me of a time I had a 1982 SR5 I’m telling my age but I got that truck stuck in a creek and it sucked to the silt on the bottom and would not budge. I had water running through the floor boards in one door and out the other. We had to put snatch blocks on a 8000 lb. winch before it would move the winch itself wouldn’t budge it.

That outing cost me about 2,500.00 back in the day.

Edit: forgot to mention we had to chain the truck doing the winching to a tree to keep the winch from dragging it in the creek with mine. Oh and there was a lot of beer involved in that outing.

Yep, I've had a day like that... Never any fun. But, that second photo is a known hard bottom crossing, extremely popular spot to go wheeling, probably the most popular in Ontario. Looks a lot more dramatic than it is.

I'm actually getting to be very water and mud adverse, much prefer rocks. It gets old replacing diff seals and breathers constantly.

I bought her to go off road and to have fun - I also have another vehicle (well my wife's Outback) but I use my truck as a daily driver.

This is right after I bought her stock suspension - the only thing I did was sliders - engine skid plate - and 32s 265/75R16 KO2s. Actually this pic kind of demonstrates had I not had sliders the damage would have been much worse. I was learning so probably would not happen now even though I do harder trails.

later with a 2" lift and armored up - was kind of proud of her on this one - got through a mud hole after a Jeep Cherokee that was lifted a gazillion inches with huge tires had to be recovered from. I think the difference was I took a line kind of over to the side of the mud hole where I could get some traction against the side where the Jeep just tried to plow straight through.

Add to that the dirt (mud) clods that fall down into your face & eyes any time you go to work on something underneath. lol

Clean water isn't too bad, but yeah rocks = much more fun :D Thinking of a crawl box in the near future for that reason...

I am with you there - I was with a group that picked the mud hole challenge. It's way too much of a hassle getting her cleaned up after especially underneath. So yeah give me the rocks way more fun.

I wonder what the line looked like over towards the driver side in the second pick ? I think that's the line I would have picked just from the pic but without really seeing what is was like over on that side. As far as the water . . . . yeah - no I'm doing that.

If I recall there was a fat rock in the middle of that line that would've made it kind of awkward.
