Show me where I ever said that. I was speaking to the guys talking about haul weights.

I started a thread last week about me visit to an offroad park, While enjoyable, it was a Jeep inspired park designed with some tight places. I will take the Taco offroad at times, no real rock crawling is on the menu. Green and blue trails, no blacks.

Everyone wants their truck to look good yet I do want some offroad adventures from time to time. Bilstein 5100s is what I'll most likely end up with. 2" front and 1" rear with springs maybe. Also, a larger tire. I've looked at the TRD replica 17x8's for a little wider tire as well.

I merely stated I would be hauling, not lifting to haul. Big difference.

Honestly sounds like stock with a one up sized tire and a 0 offset wheel is really what your uses call for.
Doing a 2x1 lift will level the truck if you add 400lbs to a leveled truck it's going to land with such a horrible rake and will drive poorly.
2x2 to maintain rake if you are planning on putting in anything beyond grocery bags. Especially if you do it with a block/add a leaf.

Are the rear springs that flimsy? I'll definitely look at springs. It's a truck, I'll be hauling from time to time, and I'd like a more aggressive look.

Talked to a shop about the 5100's, reasonable costs. They actually steered me to the RC 3.5" set up but I pushed back a little. They indicated RC has improved their lift a great deal over the years. Regardless, I think I'll go the 5100s.

Good on you rejecting that claim.
Rough Country actually has backslided by offering up these 3" & 3.5" lifts that have no corrective drop-down brackets. They are among the quickest ways to torn CV boots, shortened steering rack life, crappy ride, and on & on (the simple diff drop they use on the 3.5" is completely inadequate). I recommend their original 4" drop bracket lift before the 3.5"... At least this keeps most of the geometry of your front suspension intact.

You should be happy with the 5100s though. Skid plates can help if you do occasionally encounter clearance issues offroad (you can always explore the DB or LT options at a later date if you need more lift/more performance).
I also agree with what was said above, you want an equal amount of lift front & rear if you actually do 'truck things' with your truck. The Icon RXT rear leaf springs are a popular choice. They come with an extra leaf making them highly configurable for different lift heights/different load carrying capacities, and should match up well with the 5100 front lift.

    ^ Good info. Thanks.

I'll be looking at TRD skid plates shortly. Not keen on the white one but did see a black one somewhere a few day ago.
