What headlights are these?

Hey guys. I had a question about these headlights I saw. I’ve never seen Tacoma headlights that implement both the LED DRLs and the amber DRLs that the SR/SR5 trims use. I was wondering if they were OEM or aftermarket. If they are OEM, I was wondering if the headlights themselves can use both DRLs, or if some wiring was done to accomplish that. Also, I’ve added a second pic of a headlight that I believe is the same as in the first pic. Can anyone verify? Thanks.

They look stock but with black headlight mod
People take them apart and paint some of the chrome black
But I could be wrong there’s a million different lights for these trucks on Amazon now

If the truck is an SR trim, this could be accomplished by using the stock DRL/turn and just wiring the LED DRL portion to an ignition controlled circuit. If it’s a TRD trim, that gets more complex. It can still be done, but you’d have to wire the amber bulb like a switchback so it’s solid with the DRL, but still blinks with the turn signal. Doable though.

My initial response was going to be “it’s hard to tell what the truck is”. But upon closer inspection, my money is on SR. There aren’t turn signals in the mirrors. So doing this would be pretty easy. You could modify the 7442 holder to fit the 7440 hole of the TRD headlights. Or if you didn’t care about the parking light portion of the 7442, a simple wiring adapter would do it.

Thanks for your response. I just checked and apparently the truck is an SR5. I would love to do this on my truck, but unfortunately I had a TRD. I’m assuming the same method can be used with the stock headlights (the headlights I have on now). I just think the combo of the LED DRLs + the amber looks great

I thought the SR5's had mirror turn signals? Totally possible (and probable) I am wrong. But for the headlights, it wouldn't matter SR vs SR5. If you really want to do this, I'd use a couple of these: S1 Switchback Module (pair) The downside there is the module is limited to 2A, so you might exceed that with a 7440 depending on the bulb. If you wanted to be super safe about that, you could run an LED turn signal with a resistor before the switchback module. It wouldn't be terribly hard to build, even easier if you just cut up the headlight wires (which I NEVER recommend, but it's cheaper that way for sure). But if you wanted to build it to be plug and play, you'd be looking at about $70 in parts (including the $25 for the switchback driver, but doesn't include resistors). I can draw it up for you if you remind me tomorrow or Friday. And just for the record, I could do the whole thing for you for $100 ($125 with resistors). But don't think I am just here to sell you something, I'm always happy to help the DIYer

I have a 2021 SR5 4x4 double cab. It doesn't have side mirror signals. However, I've seen SR5s with side mirror signals. I'm presuming the side mirror signals were part of an add-on package. Maybe the blind spot monitoring system package. Not sure.

Hmmm, good to know. I always thought the SR5s all came with them. Now I know
