Does anyone know if the 2009-2012 HVAC controls will work on 05-08 trucks? Appears the only difference are the knobs. The size and shape and the plugs on the back all look the same

    Thanks

The difference is the control voltage for the temperature is backwards between 05-08 and 09-15 so your temp knob will work backward (hot will be cold and cold will be hot) if you swap unless you also swap the temp actuator for one out of the same year range as the controls.

Ah interesting ok thanks. Is the temp actuator realistically able to be swapped?

It's not too hard, they are on the right side of the HVAC case behind the glovebox.
In fact since Toyota aparently superceeded the part number to the 09-15 version it's very difficult to get the right one for 05-08 trucks, even most aftermarket ones work backwards in 05-08 even though by application they are supposed to be right.
