Does anyone know what the dealership would charge to replace the lower ball joints by chance? I just purchased the moog lower ball joints and curious if anyone here has had the dealership do the replacement?

They may not. You’d likely be far better off to go to an independent.

When the aftermarket ball joints fail prematurely it will have absolutely been easier...

Do not recommend Mevotech LBJ, see earlier post from Sept 2019. They have failed after only two years.

Great write up! Anyone have recommendations on a LBJ? I have MOOG K500017 on my t4r. They've been on there for a little over 2 years now, but are moving quite freely. No play in them yet. Figure i'd order a new set and have them ready to be installed.

Very useful write up. I noticed after the install that the clearance from the zerk fitting to the CV axle boot is tight. 2-3mm. I oriented the fitting so the grease release port faces away from the brake rotors. Anyone have suggestions on how to get to the zerk fitting with grease gun. . (Maybe need a needle and push the rubber boot aside ??). I installed the Mevotech. Hope they last .

Sorry to revive an older thread, but in the OP's original post, it doesn't make mention of the boot cover at the end. The Moog BJ does not have one prior to being installed in the OP's pics. At what point do you put the boot on the new BJ or will it go on at all?

My recollection is that the boot is there all along, it just isn't really noticeable with the angles in OP's pics. I did this (years ago) and don't remember having to mess with the boot separately, and it most definitely is there.

Correct... as I recall the boots were on the ones I installed. I do not recall having to deal with boots. I do remember reading about boots coming separately when doing recon for the job. Pretty sure these had them on them...

So... I looked over the photos in the OP. You can see the boot on the BJ. It's just a smaller boot. It's tucked right up in there covering the joint.
