    We're back

Had a few snow days where I was unable to get to my site so I put some more time in on the shop

I needed to complete my adjustable shelves before putting away my systainers into the Festibule

I'm using a fastener / adjustable shelf pin system called Flipper that uses a plastic insert that is housed in a recess in each corner of each shelf that corresponds to the adjustable pin in the cabinets .

The advantage of this system versus a standard shelf pin is that the Flipper style shelf snaps down onto the stud in the cabinet so that if you pull a toolbox out , the shelf does not want to slide out with it

The holes for the Flipper inserts have to be very accurately drilled both in size (15mm) , depth (11mm) and centreline offset to edge of shelf end (6.5mm) . I also needed to ensure that the insert holes were the correct offset from the front of the shelf to align with where the front row of holes is drilled in the cabinets as well as making sure that from centre of the front insert hole to centre of the rear insert hole was exactly 288mm to make sure the rear insert aligned with the rear row of holes in the cabinets .

To make this all accurate and repeatable I spent a bit of time dialing in a fence and stop set up on my drill press table

I used a spacer strip of plywood cut to exactly 288mm (my front to back hole offset) to allow me to drill both holes with one stop set up .

I would just drill the first hole with the spacer against my stop

Then remove the 288mm spacer , move the shelf over against the stop and drill the second hole

Centreline of hole is slightly inboard of the edge of the plywood which retains the insert

    Holes drilled in shelf

Flipper system pin on bottom versus standard pin above

Flipper inserts installed , they will snap down over the head of the adjustable shelf pin in the cabinet

Filled up the Festibule . Each bay is somewhat organized into particular tool types ~ ie Domino / Lamello Zeta biscuit joiner , install tools , routers , track saws and accessories , random tools / un-assigned boxes

Some of these boxes will be moving around and I will likely move the track saw stuff into the lowers of my track saw cutting station after I build it but for now all the systainers are in the Festibule instead of a big heap on the floor

I can reach all these boxes no problem just standing on the floor . The currently empty upper cabinets will be for longer storage of consumables / sanding disks / sanding belts , Darth Systainer etc

    Yeah.
This is so poorly thought out. I'm amazed you can even function.

Seriously, though, if I could hire you to build me a shop that I would suck at using, I would. Bravo.

How are you even able to walk around with that massive chubby banging into things and knocking stuff off benches?
