Had my previous vehicle become undrivable suddenly(OUCH!) and bought a 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport just because....and its OK so far as it goes for using for my back and forth to oil field jobs. The transmission sucks and it gets horrible MPG but it has enough power to remain interesting.
Currently having an odd issue with the
IG1 NO.2 fuse blowing when the AC button is pushed.
The AC clutch has been making bad noises for a while, but just have not had time to fix it yet.
What I need to know is this: What is the best/easiest way to know if the whole AC compressor is bad or if its just the clutch??
I have had compressors go bad that were locked up tight.....and had them go bad and still spin freely.
I think I can do the clutch R&R but I really dont want to have to open the AC system and replace all the bits that would need replacing if the compressor is shelled out.
I have ghosted this site for a while, since I bought the truck FEB2022 but never signed up.

There's not really a definitive way to check if a compressor with a clutch failure is bad other than checking if it's locked up or not, that's why most shops will replace a compressor with a clutch failure instead of replacing the clutch.

Go to your preferences and uncheck "and receive email notifications" next to all categories.

You can also set the preference when you create or watch a thread.
