I have a new 2025 SR I picked up yesterday and on the 14-mile trip home it said it averaged 10.6 MPG. Today around town it averaged 11 to 14.5 mpg.

This seems very low to me and cannot be accurate being so low and all over the place?

Should I just switch to a different screen and forget the mpg reading and just enjoy the truck?

I only put about 6000 miles a year on a vehicle so the fuel consumption is not a huge deal for me.

    Thank you.

In my SR5, it’s been the most accurate of any vehicle I’ve owned.

That’s why it’s called an average MPG. You don’t get 19 mpg everywhere you go, you average 11 one trip, 24 another, 16 another, etc.

Does it show a lifetime average somewhere? Get out the old pen and paper at the pump for a while or sign up on Fuelly and see what your real numbers are and compare to the read out.

Is your SR a manual? I’m at 500 miles on my manual and haven’t been able to get above 12 MPG around town. I too don’t drive a lot but I was able to get 16 MPG in same driving with my 3rd gen manual.

I got 19mpg on a 800 mile trip close to sea level with cruise set most of the time. But it gets about 17MPG over the last 2000 miles on paper. Id say its close to what the dash says and i wish the fuel tank was bigger. Mines 6’ bed premium OR. So heavier than yours.

FWIW, I have had this feature on several vehicles over time and it was always spot-on when compared to doing it the "retro" way by hand. If the feature in your truck also has an "instant MPG" selection, try setting it to that and monitor the reported MPG's. It will tell you a lot: especially how quickly/easily the MPG's tank and drop the average MPG figures to the single digit's quickly and frequently with any little "extra" pedal applications.

Probably +- .5 to 1 mpg. It's not perfect but it hasn't been all that far off for me. dont worry about your mileage until you have a few tanks and thousand miles into your truck.
